    3.0 & Weapons / Armor.

I just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about the weapons and gear in 3.0, or wants to take a guess. Since we will be seeing a physical level increase from 50 - 60, this would mean that we would see gear from dungeons drop that are physical level above 50.

How do you think their stats will compare to our current high ilv weapons that are currently set at lv. 50?

We would have to have new crafts that give us bows / swords / shields / armor, do you think they'll be more powerful than what we got now? And if so, I wonder what it will take to craft these items.

An avg lvl 60 will most likely be as good as the best lvl 50. Say GG to them hundreds of hours grinding

I would imagine there will be a mundane set of gear that is within 1-3 iLVLs of their equipable level (i.e. Hard Steel Chest Plate, lvl 55 to equip iLVL 56), then there will be a new set of armor for just level 60s that will exceed the i135 precedent currently set.

Unless they make a dramatic change to the rate at which you can level up after level 50.

Whatever it may be, I hope they stick to what they said, not raising the ilvl and giving us some horizontal progression instead.

Where did SE say that? Just wondering as never saw em say anything about horizontel progression. Only thing I remember is they said about slowing down the power creep with ilvls, not stopping it.

    For progression in the expansion:

If they make the content in the expnsion for levelling require 120ish ilvl then it would make it double difficult for new players or those who decide to switch or just level up the new jobs. Which would be discouraging for new players and leave a negative impression.

If they make it so a fresh 50 can level up without gearing then its made less than trivial for those who did.

Only way around it, in my opinion, is to make 51-52ish mobs scale slightly from level 50 mobs, while having easily obtainable gear to equal ilvl 120ish then push the mob difficulty higher with lvl 53+ mobs to give a slight challenge to everyone equally. (We all know they wont make things too challenging:P ).

In other words, first couple of levels into the xpac are to get everyone geared up equally. Which will probs be a combination of quest rewards, dungeon drops and crafted items.

I do not remember SE saying this. I wish they did Vertical progression is not good due to the required content negating that is involved with it, but SE would have to revamp the whole method of how gear works in order to change. I am expecting the new gear to be the same as it is now. At lvl 50 we will have I130 gear with the top raid droping I150. Stats will be the same incremental increase we seen now since the launch of XIV 2.0.

Unless SE says it in a live letter and shows us an example I just do not see them changing anything. They are too worried about everything being ultra balanced to have unique aspects to gear which is required for horizontal progression.

Is that really such a bad thing? This isn't a horizontal gear based mmo.

The only real issue you can have with this is a "wtf" moment when a random npc hands you something better than current 130.

Being upset that gear you get from quests is better than 6-7 month old lower level gear? I can't see it.

I pretty much expert this and I have no problem with it because the same thing happens every wow expansion which this game takes a lot of the systems form. Your level 50 gear served its purpose for level 50 content and raids and its time to more on to higher ilvl gear.

Even WoW stopped doing that with their recent expansion (top ilvl gear, 616, doesn't get replaced until max level heroics), so I don't know if we'll straight up see "Hi, welcome to Ishgard! Here's your ilvl 140 set!"

That being said, it's not really a problem. Gear is a means to an end, meant to be replaced as you progress to better and harder things.
