Any self respecting tank will ask at the start what the party wants to do. Atleast those of us who care about their party and are not off just for themselves. Mamma did raise some of us right. If I was healing and at the start the tank said nothing and just took off, I would just let them die. A little bit of communication, being polite, and using some common courtesy can go a long way and make things a lot more enjoyable for everyone. If you choose to lead the pack (tank), act like it.

Letting ppl die for not living up to your expectations is a little bit countering the rest you wrote about how mama raised you. just sayin.

Mamma always told me: If you can't find something to live for, you best find something to die for. I gave them that. If I must educate, it will be harsh, but you will learn, if you don't want to learn, everyone know where the door is. Probably why I don't educate, or heal in dungeons.

Whatever man, it's often the wrong ones that think they must educate others.
    Good day, sir.

As a Healer main i find most tanks, not all wait at the start for protect at least...now with stone skin 2 added i always cast that, but people seem to rush off regardless, do they not understand a healer needs to buff the group? Then they proceed to pull in extreme cases before ive even got protect or stone skin off, the main reason is because of slow loaders who watch the cut scenes..

How hard is it to wait about 6-7 seconds to cast protect and stone skin?

But most times i farm snow cloak many tanks do huge pulls without asking, im hoping its because im wearing poetic gear, and not because the expect a healer to keep up. like wise on my pally i always check my healer and the dps make up to even see if big pulls are possible.

2 ninjas or 2 monks would be a worst case for trying out big pulls.

Would you chill out. I have a crude and bizarre sense of humor and it's not easily portrayed in typed content or easily detected. People just seem to forget sometimes that while running a dungeon they are part of a team. A team that requires everyone to do their job in order to survive. The leader of that team needs to keep the group together and on track for a common goal. You are not there for yourself, others are relying on you. This is not a solo game, you will not make it very far if you try to go it alone. You need others, they are there for the same reason you are.

At some point along the line we all enjoyed playing video games, also playing with and hanging out with other gamers. That's why we came here. The minute it turns into a job and feels like work, its probably time to hang it up. For some that enjoyment of gaming is lost, and why we started playing video games in the first place. It gets reflected on attitudes in dungeons, then it begins to effect those who are still enjoying themselves and want to have fun. Then this happens.

Many of the responses in this topic are illustrating why I chose to give up tanking level 50 dungeons. When I tank, I generally don't feel comfortable with pulling big groups. I just haven't had a lot of practice. I'm a slow & steady tank. People don't like that.

Bottom line is the Tank's Purpose in the group. The Tank is suppose to be the wall between the enemy and the rest of the team. The healer's job is to make sure that wall stays up. And the DPS' job is to make sure the enemy falls before the healer runs out of MP.

If all of this is being followed correctly then the group moves along at a proper pace and normal runs become speed runs.
On the other hand if a DPS goes AWOL or the Healer stop healing, or the tank takes dammage to fast by bitting off more than he/she can chew, then a botched speed run becomes slower than a casual one-mob-at-a-time strole.

Most of those who don't like to wait are mainly those who don't tank, or have never done it. You should not be put off just because a some people don't like to wait, your the tank its your pace or they can leave. As a tank you pull what you feel is at your level of tanking and gear level, not what others think you should do.

This! If the group doesn't like it, they can find another tank in maybe two days... Some tanks, like me can handle speed or steady pace, others have their comfort zone and you know what? That's perfectly fine. As I stated before the tank controls the pace. Not the DPS and not the healer. If you have a capable healer that likes large pulls and DPS that have effective AoE, do whatever YOU feel your team can handle. If you fail, slow it down, but in the first group or two you can tell the type of team you're on and then your mind is set on what type of run it will be.

I had another episode with a dragoon last night in Sastasha HM pulling mobs to me near the final gate because he wanted to AoE spam, but the group already said they did not want large pulls, when the healer of my group objects to large pulls, I never argue and I back up my healer, because that's their comfort zone. So the DRG pulled 5 additional mobs to the 3 we were already dealing with and guess what happened? I pulled up my lawn chair and let him die and the healer did not heal him. He typed TANK? 3 times in chat while I kept the other hate off the MNK and WHM and used cooldowns when I read that my healer was trying not to grab the DRG's hate by healing me. I purposely lead my mob away that the DRG tried to mix with my Overpower rotation. the mobs made short work of him and returned to their position. The DRG called me a noob and I told him to go sit on his spear and rotate. Further we said in the beginning that the healer did not want large pulls. I told him he could be a team player or leave. He was mad stayed silent the rest of the dungeon and we got through it after going at each other for 4 or 5 minutes.

I'm serious as a heart-attack when I say DPS better not pull mobs to me, unless I say to do so. I can tell the difference between an accident and an intentional pull... I WILL let you die.
