I've been known to drop as a healer if I get a tank like that. I can do something else for half an hour, and not feel nearly as aggravated as I would if I continued trying to keep them on their feet.

A lot DPS and Healers have it in their in mind that Tank's are tools.
We're not, sometimes, when we want to run dungeons, we want to do it for fun.
I won't rush a dungeon unless it's a pre-made group with my FC.
Sadly, in my case, DPS and Healer's don't realize that they joined a PUG, if DDers or Healers choose to run ahead and pull packs in the hopes of me doing a speed run, I laugh, finish my mobs, and then watch them die. If I get kicked, I select 'Join in Progress', return to the dungeon and people shut up and do their jobs right, if they don't like it, they can go ahead 'dc' and enjoy another 1 hour wait (DPS) or suck it up (Healer).

As tank, you control the pace of the dungeon, DD controls the speed of how the enemies fall and healer is well healer. I would do the exact same thing as you would in your above example. I am the meatshield. i tell you what I can handle, even if I can handle them, sometimes I don't want large pulls. That's my call as tank. If you're getting hate from something I pulled then you have every right to say something to me, but if I am the one expecting to hold the hate: Don't. You. DARE. Pull extra mobs to me on purpose. I will pull up a lawn chair and watch as the adds destroy you.A lot DPS and Healers have it in their in mind that Tank's are tools.

Except that's not the case. It's not about whining or adapting. You get a tank that bitches at you because they died with their horrible gear on top of the fact THEY did not wait for buffs. That is the tanks fault, not the healer. I semi agree with the person you quoted, but the majority are just bad...NO TERRIBAD tanks.^ This right here. I do not mind playing with a tank who can pull everything in one pull or one who needs to do them one at a time. To each his own, I just adapt as the healer and go from there, I will buff as we are running or just start casting Stoneskin when the last mob is about 10% you will finish the cast around the time it dies and boom you have buffs and tank can pull to his heart content.
Gamers whine about anything and everything, the tank pulls too slow, he pulls to fast, he has too much welfare gear, he doesn't have the warfare gear what a scrub. Less QQ moar pew pew.
My proposal: wait for your buffs, test what the team can handle and proceed and control the pace that suits your team as a REAL tank should.

You are describing a jerk. The process to determine if people want a speedrun or not is extremely complicated, so I made a macro to help out some of the filthy casuals who stuggle with these complex rotations.Except that's not the case. Speed Run Macro:
/p Speed run?
If the healer and 1 DPS says "yes" or some variation of that, you can go ahead and pull multiple groups.
If the healer says "no" or some variation of that, no speed run for joo.

And most tanks in the OP's description fit that label of jerk... You are only stating what I've already said with ASKING your team which they prefer...You are describing a jerk. I've been on many end of this topic just last night alone. I entered snowcloak with a tank who probably needed to shit in-game because the moment the lockout circle disappeared, he was already at the corner where the spriggans were while I was casting protect and stoneskin. The DD did not even follow him. Needless to say he died and called me a noob. I laughed both LOL in chat and IRL, then I asked him: Do you go diving without your diving gear? Then I said Then don't go into a fight without protection. Simple as that. Both DD LOL'd and the tank was silent.
Again in Qarn HM, I was SCH. This tank could not take a hit for the life of me. He blamed me for his bare bones minimum required ilvl gear (which was a mix of DD and healer accessories). I laughed once again and did not even mention anything until he died in the cactuar fight, he could not survive the damage from holding hate on the adds, both DD said it all about his gear and we abandoned the dungeon, because he could not survive that fight. Actually the Dragoon had higher life than the tank.
I could go on, but the list is long man...
^This! She nailed it!I don't mind speed run at all , i get irritated when tank pulls the whole zone and never pops a single CD and I get blamed for not healing the tank.
Can't be bothered to wait for single protect or stone skin that's the tanks fault but NO tanks and dps tend to blame it on healer , met so many rubbish players doing this crap I've switched to dps and quit playing healer for DF .
Nothing wrong with this game it's the people you deal with at DF giving me unwanted ulcer for being stupid with the rush rush crap
Most tanks go too fast? I pretty much never see this. Usually I see tanks who, after finishing a pull, sit around and catnap for like 1-2 minutes before going for the next pull. Like, get going, ok?
Tanks should:
1) Wait for Protect.
2) Wait for Stoneskin if they think it's actually necessary for what they're about to fight.
3) Immediately pull after Step 1) or 2) with no further delay as appropriate.
Ain't nobody got time to wait for you to eat your bagel between every pull, ok?
Agreed , I have been a few parties where the tank pulls to much and we end up dead or starting over or the tank just leaves. As a whm I get the blame allot too. I can only cure so fast and once the tanks cool downs are gone there aint much if all enemies are still alive anyone can do. Yea we have Divine seal/bene and Presence of Mind but they dont go to far. Nothing wrong with large pulls but test the waters first and increase pull size. Sometimes it is just party dynamics that needs to be established. If I never ran with a tank, I dont know what his capabilities are especially first pull. I dont know how many times I got: oops I didn't have shield oath up!

I will only really Rush if
1 I really don't like the duty like the 8 man story dungeons.
2 if there's a chance I'd have to do it again because what I need has a low drop rate.
3 and this only applies if it's not a 8 man story dungeon every one else is geared. But if the reason they aren't geared because they came in with full carft gear to spirit bond well....BE READY FOR THE PULL OF DEATH MU HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.
These are really the only reasons I will try and rush in a duty.

For me, I find that it's dependent.
When I was on my first experience through the storyline, I was very patient because I enjoyed watching the cutscenes and enjoyed exploring each new dungeon and territory. The first few runs through a new dungeon are exciting and interesting. I wanted to see every room and investigate the treasure chests. Full clears were important to me because I was still leveling and those missed rooms were gear and exp.
At level 50 and geared; you have seen these same dungeons over and over. In order to receive the tomes you need, you have to do your dungeon roulette. By this point, they're nothing new and have lost their initial charm. I've experienced the content and now I'm looking for the most fast and efficient way to move forward. Generally, this means I'll pull fast and furious if possible because most people at my level are here for the reward-- not the journey.
However, roulette doesn't always mean that I'll get the run that I would prefer. I'll be thrown into Stone Vigil where a healer says, "I'm new." This is a reason to slow down. I will stop and let them enjoy their cutscenes. I will still full clear the place if I know that the exp is still beneficial to someone that is still leveling and still in the process of experiencing content.
But if I zone into a dungeon and we're all 50?
Protect & Stoneskin me; please keep up.
If you've run a dungeon 50+ times or at least enough to receive a dungeon master title over your head, there's no reason to be pulling extra rooms for chests full of elusive 'hi-potions' or still be fascinated by graphical textures. With all due respect, let's get moving please.

Nope, its because they have supposedly much better things to grind, rather than spend a few seconds letting a healer buff the whole party and spend about 30+ mins in a dungeon with 3 more random people.
