Line of sight and damage taken

I've played a lot of PVP in MMOs and enjoy FFXIV's. However, I believe an adjustment of line of sight and damage taken is needed.

Based on playing Wolves' Den and Frontlines, it is my assumption that the ability to cast a spell/ability is dependent on the relative position of the player who is casting it. This prevents the issue that used to plague WoW that you could be on top of someone on your screen but received a "target is too far away" message.

I believe a second positional check is needed to register damage taken. That is, if you run behind a wall and start casting a spell, that break in line of sight should prevent any damage that you take thereafter (even if their spell/ability was cast successfully). At this time, you run behind a wall, start casting a heal, and are interrupted. This goes for any class attempting to mitigate damage via LOS.

I think this change would improve PVP in this game tenfold and allow people to take it more seriously.

Up to now it should work as you say, but I think that your lag will be added to yhe lag of your opponent, as SCH I can confirm you tath I use A LOT the line of sight in order to heal myself, but sometimes I receive anyway some ranged attack that interrupt me, but only sometimes :/

Bards are notorious for this...When you play a healer and run behind a pillar and start casting, they still get a blood letter off or auto attack or a heavy shot off. The issue is the weapon skill Delay. You can press the attack and some abilities will take .5 sec to 1 sec to register the damage. Once the damage is registered, the interruption happens. So using a long animation ability on your target as they run around a pillar would cause the caster to be interrupted while casting behind it.

Another good example of the attack delay is when a paladin uses his combo on you, you can spam cure 2 and get interrupted by fast blade, then savage since they are relatively fast. Once rage of halone comes, you can easily get a cast off since you have to wait for the whole animation to finish before the damage is put out and interrupts the caster. This is a good strategy when a paladin sits on you to interrupt you. Just watch for savage blade and get ready to get a free heal off if he uses Rage of Halone 8^)

But yeah, they need to fix that IMO.
