Okay, a couple questions regarding these shards. . .

Is there a way to tell when looking on the map if I have already touched a shard or not? I look at them on the map and I can't tell if that is one I touched already and is in my transport network?

Also, when I click on one to transport to, a list of locations comes up. . .how do I know which is which? Some of them are near nothing on the map so I have no idea if that's the one I want or not? For instance, I'm in New Gridania and there is a shard close to the Archers' Guild, but when I click on the shard it doesn't state Archers' Guild? So If I want to go to this location sometime I have no idea which shard location this is?

This is very confusing. . .I have no idea where I'm transporting half the time.

The small shards are for moving within the major town you are in if you have attune to them(memorized them) the large ones are placed in large cities and small towns spread throug out the world (you have to attune to those as well to place them in your teleport book)those are what are in your teleport book that you use to move around the world not the small ones.

So when you portal to New Grid you are porting to the large shard. The small ones in Gridania which you have to be in that town to use them and they move ya between the small ones in the city

For small shards, you will know when you have touched them all if you have access to teleporting directly outside the gates (There'll be a notification you can, and additional areas added to the list).

As for which is which? The majority are right next to the guilds and say so straight up (eg "Conjurer's Guild" or "Marauder's Guild" etc); the remaining few are locations you will very quickly learn (there's only about two per town - for instance, "Gridania Aetheryte Plaza" is the Old Gridania northeast, and used to get to most places on that map, while "Mih Khetto's Amplitheatre" is up in New Gridania and roughly centered there).

It's something you'll learn pretty quickly honestly.
