Suggestions for GPU upgrade?

hi all,

my current system is...

Athlon X4 640 3.0ghz (oc to 3.3ghz)
Antec 750W High Current Gamer
8GB ddr2 ram
and last but not least my old gtx 260(slightly oc)


now cash wise i can go up to £150 which is pretty reasonable and the obvious choice is a gtx 460 and above, i was also considering a gtx 560 just so this will last me for the next 3 years of gaming


i also want to be able to play all other current games at high settings with a great fps of 45 to 60 ideally (witcher 2, crysis 2 and BF3 when it comes out^^)


which graphics card will be great for ffxiv and also be good for the next 3 years?

I enjoy my 460's and at $100USD a card just can't beat the value to performance. I'll dig them up later when i get home but there is several reviews of 2x460's doing as well as a single 580 and even better on some tests.

As for FFXIV on the 460 I've had no trouble at all since turning on VSync. The settings I use are: nVidia drivers 275.33 running fullscreen 1080, 4x aa, 8, 3, Texture Q - High, Texture F - Highest.

hmm intresting about the 460's in sli, ur settings are also pretty impressive

i want to have dof on tho because i think it really makes the game tbh, it looks soo realistic i love it!

You can use DoF just fine, I just don't like it myself (just a personal pref). Anyways yeah money to performance it'll be the best bang for your money.

Dof Is a cpu/gpu hit so its down to the overall build, you should be fine,
The Gpu, 2 options imo, a 570 for single card.. or a 560(1gig mem+) then at a later point SLI when its needed.
Idont know if the 560 will give you the solid 60fps, that will be on your settings I guess, and if your multi screen or single.
I'll have to let someone else comment

So for comparison, My 570 (800/1600/2000 stock volts) holds 59/60fps @ 1920x1200 every where but UL (40's in ul can get hi 50s here and there but)

edit: settings gone as I'm seeing what the max is I can keep the 59+ at lol
