Doman Timeline

Okay, fellow lore-lovers, help a gal out here. I'm an avid RP-er, but would like to stick to (or at least toe around the grey area) of what we know. I am at work, so I can't rewatch cutscenes at the moment, but I'd figure I'd get the ball rolling. Throw your additions at me or your own person ideas!

So what do we know as far as the Doman timeline/their occupation of the Empire. It's safe to assume that Doma is part of or at least borders Othard. Did Yugiri ever drop any specifics? From my best recollection, she mentioned that the Garleans went about eradicating Doma because the Domans mustered a revolt. Does anyone know of any mention during the Doman pertinent questlines (Levi & NIN) as far as how long Garlemald occupied Doma before that?

The NIN questline was a boon to the flavor of Doma, but I couldn't really divine any information as far as how long Garlemald had occupied Doma prior to Yugiri landing in Vesper Bay. At shortest, it would be something like a year, wouldn't it? Since the start of 2.0 until the quest with Ultima is supposedly over the course of a year, I believe. I think it's a safe assumption that the NIN story, since you can do it before meeting Yugiri and much of the dialog treats you as if you've never met her (some of it changes if you have, but I like to think the more canon version is having not), would take place during that year or so. Which means we can probably safely assume that they were occupied for, at minimum, a year?

I'd say Doma had been occupied far longer than that.

From what I remember reading, the empire took Othard before their attempt on Aldenard, as their experience with primals on Othard was the reason for the Battle of Silvertear Skies. I'd say it's safe to assume that Doma had been conquered at least 16 years before version 1.0, a year before the fall of Ala Mhigo. So anywhere between 23-30 years before your character arrives in Eorzea would be my bet.

Also, It'd be my guess that Yugiri grew up in Garlemald-controlled Doma and when finally reaching maturity, led the revolt. This theory would make her 27-34 years old when we meet her.

Lets see, Ala Mhigo fell to Garlemauld in the year 1557 of the sixth Astral Era, and that was 15 years prior too 1.0's start (1572 6 AE) and it's been about 7 years since 1.0 (1.0 probably took about a year, pluss the five year gap, and the year that 2.0 takes place over)

So were around 20ish years since the fall of Ala Mhigo which happened not long after Othard was conqured. Garlemauld it's self acording to the 1.0 lore was "Up untill 50 years ago, it was but a small nation that ocupyed little more than a fraction of the northlands" so if 1.0 is 1572 6AE then Garlemauld didn't start conquring Othard till around 1522 6AE. So sometime between 1522 when they started their conquest of othard and 1557 when they took Ala Mhigo (The Battle of Silver Tear Skys was the same year Ala Mhigo Fell) they'd have taken Doma's lands by force.

So assuming that Doma is about halfway between Garlemauld and Ala Mhigo it would likely have been around 20 years at least before The Garlens came for Eorzia. So a good guess would be between 1530 and 1540 6AE for the fall of Doma. Which would make it around 30-40 years before the 7th Umbral Era. (The Current Year in Eorzia is either 6 or 7, 7UE)

You two are amazing! And admittedly much more knowledgeable on the timeline pre-2.0 than I am, so those posts help me tremendously.

How would the events of the NIN quests tie in with this, specifically the betrayal involved? Did you take that to mean that the ninja clan was betrayed at the start of whatever revolt was lead most recently? That seems like the most likely conclusion to me.

I have no idea about Ninja's Quest Line, My Rouge is still lvl 20 lol. But I was legacy so I actually saw alot of 1.0 happen. I got the dates and stuff from finalfantasy.wikia.com in it's FF14 section it has the history, a lot of the lore, and generally keeps track of the revealed content for new updates.

Also keep in mind that some lore has been retconed by Yoshida's lore team. For example the privious Director's lore had Midgaursormer listed as an elder primal when by the now cannon plot he's simply a wyrm king. I would have personally loved to know where he was going with the star shower sceans my self but Yoshida took over in 1.20 and started the plot toward's bahamut's release at Cartenue. To this day we have no idea what meteor was suppose to be since it was retconed into Dalamuld's Fall and Bahamut's release.

Given that Karasu was a Doman shinobi, I'm inclined to believe that this revolt went on for a while, maybe a few earth months. Thinking this way allows the Empire the time needed to assess the situation and set in motion their plan; Flip a high-ranking shinobi and have him end the resistance from the inside. Ultimately, the rebellion failed and I'm sure it was due to Karasu's betrayal, massacring the only force the Domans had against the empire.

So, the betrayal? Definitely at the end, or at least latter half.

Didn't the betrayal was for conquering Doma and not his destruction ?
Spoiler Ninja storyline :

Because the ninja master comes to track him down without saying anything about destructing, Doma, he only speaks of heavy represions after the end of the war, which are obvious considering how the empire handle his conquests. It seems that he comes to track the traitor before 2.2, if not it might have been weird to send Ninjas track a traitor while they are trying to escape from the empire killing every domian around, moreover the traitor had enough time to greatly train a lot of ninjas for the empire and it must have taken a while between the betrayal and the NIN storyline.

But these ninjas don't come from Doma directly ( they aren't the same as Yugiri's ) but come from a secret village close to Doma so maybe the master doesn't know what happened very clearly.

Well, as far as I know, ninjas are from surrounding countryside of Doma. The Doma leaders employed them to help out with their rebellion.

The rebellion is most likely going sour, lets face it, the ninjas know about it.

The master ninja old dude, decided that the way out is going over the the Garleans.

As reward, his village is spared whike everything else is razed to the ground.
