Yeah, Translate works OK for European languages and such, but Japanese and English are so far apart it fails almost completely to make sense of longer text. Its OK for looking up words but not writing or reading (either Japanese->English or English->Japanese). Among one of the many obvious problems is that Japanese tends to omit the subject, but since English basically requires one Translate will guess a subject, often wrongly (Swapping speaker and listener, for example, which can be funny).
