If it's a healer and people want it to be a DPS, they should just play it anyway and push DPS like a good healer. If it's ability based rather than spells, then that's even more reason to push DPS on it.

Except that the particular weapon doesn't matter, even if you're weaving your aether through it. Otherwise DoM wouldn't be cross classable. And I'm expecting the gun to be an afterthought. I sincerely doubt it'll be a DPS, since that doesn't add up with what we know about the situation really.

Edit: Just to clarify, are you expecting the gun healer to use magic as well? Because it sounded like that's what you were saying, and that too seems pretty unlikely. Possible, but more likely is a DoW healer.

I'm going to be in Japan during the FanFest but not going to be anywhere near Tokyo. I guess I'll read about the updates much later! I'm really excited about the upcoming updates. Hope no more cash shop shenanigans. It has created enough discontent amongst players. Happy Holidays everyone!

Some deep, dark part of my heart hopes Yoshi-P is just hyper trolling everyone and it turns out the new class isn't gun-related at all. Just so I could bathe in the tears and laugh.

...Meanwhile, some tiny part of my heart that actually has light shining in it hopes that it's a healer. Or maybe a gunner base class with DPS/Heal job branches. We can't have only two healing jobs forever! C'mon, SE. T_T

a lot of thing did change since the release... like the fact that they plan some change for the class system, the best example is the drk without class... then don't hold your breath a lot about this. like the idea of two jobs from one class, he did say that they didn't plan to do anymore...

people need to forget the musketeer and be happy to anything that will be added.

Only an hour and a half til it gets started. You know they saved the best for last for the JP fans. Expecting to finally reveal the gun wielding class and possibly one more class. Or at least drop a hint for another one like samurai. Would be nice to get some info on af2. Also expect for them to start talking about 2.5 and what to expect from it.

As someone else pointed out I'm pretty confident Gunner/Musketeer/whatever will be coming to the game at one point. Main reason is the Musketeer icon on the Coral Tower banner, it's been the guild for Musketeer since 1.0 day one. If SE had no intention of bringing it to the game, why keep it there after rebuilding the game for ARR?

I'm possible inciting violence against me, but I'm dreading a gun healer/scientific healer/chemist/alchemist as a healer. Call me old fashioned, but when I think of guns, I don't think of anything life saving... unless you're trying to kill your enemy before they do any damage.

Call me old fashioned, but I don't expect to see a doctor on the frontlines of combat. I would expect an armed field medic, though.

If Gunner ends up being a healer, I just hope they don't mess it up by making it a magic based healer... Crossing my fingers Dark Knight ends up being more than a bit magic based for a tank too, since they really dropped the ball on Paladin in that regard...
