The Ragnarok and the Zodiac weapons

I find the new zodiac weapons atrocious design vise, and it brakes my heart to give in my relic for the quest requirement. Could we have for example a Stardust rod zodiac(ilv125 etc.) in stead of lilith rod giving in a sand of time or something, with a posibility to select its apearance from one of the previous stages like say animus ver. ?
Also in 6 months you have not added a single line of lore to the zodiac saga, who were the braves or the backstory of each zodiac weapon.
But the part that got me realy mad is the Ragnarok. Hope there is some mistake as it is a Sword not a stupid axe.
It was always a sword to the point to influence even animes or mangas.

Please select another name for the axe. You have done it for Acheron in the Labirynth of the ancients, you can do it again. While you are at it put back in order the Omni rod and Elder staf as they got mistakenly swaped.
And be more considerate toward your past (loking at siren, diablos and fenrir)
Also will we never see this ver. of holy shield ?

I personally like the design very much but i will agreen on Ragnarok. Warrior weapon deserve another name. Ragnarok would had been better for DRK on the expancion and make it a Great Sword.

Ragnarok, the twilight of the god, indeed it's usually a sword in FF but it's just a word for the end of the world in the norse mythology, maybe they thought it would suit War better, even if it's an axe.

There are just a few I REALLY don't like. My first job was a WAR, got that relic up to Novus first and have it on Nexus, progressing to the final stage. I really don't want to in terms of vanity, to go from the Bravura to that horrid thing of an axe.

Of all the zodiac weapons I dislike the following (least liked first or rather most disliked first):

Warrior's Ragnarok
Going from a single-bladed, heavy headed axe to a two-bladed, light weight axe just doesn't fill the void left behind by the bravura. Whilst the Warrior's Artifact and Vintage armours seem somewhat barbaric, the axe seems to have something a bit more clean, or rather less barbaric, about its style. Until you get to Atma, that blood-stained axe was my favourite, no silly glow, simple, and suited.

Bard's Yoichi Bow
I never really got into BRD, got my 50 and zenith weapon so I know how the relic looks for my style. The original was a harp, this just screams out 'I'm a Bard!'. However, the Yoichi Bow just looks so flimsy. Looks something more for the simple archer, a wooden bow with no additional uses....like a Bard's harp!

Ninja's Sasuke's Blades
This is the second Novus weapon I got. I like the atma stage again because it has no ridiculous glow. The weapons are simple, clean, and well styled for the Ninja by being a simple set of katanas. Personally, I think these blades look a bit cumbersome to the fast moving style of the ninja. But that's just personal preference.

Monk's Kaiser Knuckles
This one might actually be growing on me. Still, my point is to compare these to their original relic counterparts. The Sphairai, once again, look best in the atma stage. Haven't really got much of an argument for this one, I just don't think the Kaiser Knuckles look as good.

When I think of Ragnarok and it's linked to Final Fantasy, I think of:

A Sword
The fight between Alexander and Odin in FFXI
Einherjar content in XI
..Yet more Swords.

So while what you say does also make sense, if this remains a Final Fantasy game (it is loosely) some things just really seem odd when they throw off a certain consistency for the sake of it.

When I play any Final Fantasy and see the word "Ragnarok" I think of one of the best sword of the game, been a small sword or great sword.

When I was reading the patch notes, when they were out, before the server went live, I had the same thought. I thought Ragnarok was going to be the DRK Relic. The axe was enigma to me, because most of the axe names we see in some FF titles (If not, all of them), are kinda lame. The most powerful axe was the Gigant/Gigantic Axe (Rune Axe as one of the sealed weapons in FFV, where they took few names for the Zodiac Brave ones). It... just... doesn't sound... epic? cool? Not in my opinion. So well, they pretty much swapped their names. I might be expecting Catastrophe to be the DRK weapon?

Didn't Fang and Vanille turn into Ragnarok in FFXIII? It does make one wonder how an axe ended up with name given its history in other FF games. My favorite axe is still Garuda's Scream, though.
