[Suggestion] Music Packs/DLC in Cash Shop

    Dear Devs,

I love all the remixes of previous FF titles in this game.
They manage to be altered enough to feel "original" to Eorzea but also are similar enough honor the games they are from.

That said...PLEASE add Selectable Music Tracks to this game.

    My idea is like this:
Add a new Tab to the Sound Menu titled "Music"
This menu would allow us to choose music options such as:
    Loop Zone BGM
    No Zone BGM

    Then a sub-section/tab titled:
    "Themes"
This menu would then allow us to select BGM for the following scenarios:
    Battle Themes:
    Battle (La Noscea)
    Battle (Thanalan)
    Battle (The Black Shroud)
    Battle (Coerthas)
    Battle (Mor Dona)
    Dungeon Battle (1-29)
    Dungeon Battle (30-50)
Dungeon Boss (Currently: "A Fine Death")
    Dungeon Final Boss (Currently: "Nemesis")
    FATE (Regular)
    FATE (Boss)
FATE (Raid) [Excluding iconic raids like Behemoth & Odin]
Garlean Leadership (Currently "Steel Reason") [Excluding Gaius van Baelsar]

    - Mount Themes
(Option to have each mount have a unique theme.)

    -Crafting Themes
Help add some extra flare to Crafting.
[Timber Owls (FF8), Various City Music from FF9]

    - Fishing Themes
    [Themes like: Fisherman's Horizon (FF8), Tifa's Theme. (FF7)]

Music Packs could be released as both Original & Remixes Volumes.
    ex:
    FFVIII Theme Pack - Original
FFVII Theme Pack - Remixed & Remastered

By Default I say everyone should get:
FFXIV 1.0 Theme Pack (Before Meteor OST)

The goal here isn't to ruin FF14s music. Just allow customization for the themes that feel played out to some players.
I personally enjoy FFXIII's Boss Battle BGM "Saber's Edge", FFX's Boss BGM "Enemy Attack", FFIX's Battle & Boss themes, & the list goes on.

Hell SE could add the BGM packs to the Cash Shop.
If anything it is PURE fluff & aesthetics and falls under the catagory of DLC by console gamer standards.
And having the ability to change BGM is not Pay to Win.

To help ease why I feel this would make more sense in the Cash Shop:
Remixing & Remastering Music is costly & time consuming. Seeing as it would take lots of time & effort.
I'm a cheapskate, I would love to have FREE Music packs, but realistically I can't see it happening for free.

I would love to see the packs unlocked/rewarded for doing In-game events for the respective FF they come from however seeing the backlash Lightning Strikes & Burgeoning Dread had...I doubt any more cross-over/fanfare events will happen.

    Addendum:
I chose General, because I have only played: FF1, FF6 (half of it) - FF14
I am no Music guru as a result, and I thought it would nice to see what Tracks other players might think up.
I already submitted the idea via In-game Suggestion Feedback.

    Edit Note 1:
Changed thread title & realigned suggestion to 100% Cash Shop supporting.
(Due to the rude replies. If you're going to flame me, I might as well justify your flames.)
    Edit 2:
Expanded reasoning, and explained why I chose General.

Hey, they can start adding raids with no textures from now on. Then they can start selling texture packs for like 10 dollars for each turn/floor/section. Players can still the enemy shapes and aoe indicators and stuff even if it's all white with pink backgrounds or something. They're not required to win the raid.

    It'll be pure fluff.

While it's a good idea, especially for people who really dislike the current direction of the music in this game people like this that spins a decent idea into a..well:

Are why the ideas never get taken seriously. I would love to be able to get a DLC or Music pack for more of XIV 1.x's music because there's a good chance they'll never bring back the music that actually felt more..Final Fantasy even if didn't seem like it fit, when you actually sit and listen to the battle theme, field theme and guild leve theme for each area (yes this was a thing) it really put the world together.

Not everyone is a PC gamer. And even with media player the music cannot change for every event.
I don't know a single person who likes the current Final Dungeon Boss BGM.
I personally and burned out the default Battle bgm.

My god people...folks keeps saying they want variety yet when folks make suggestions you attack them blindly.
This is why you can't have nice things.

The 1 thing I remember multiple folks liking about the FFXIII & FFXI events was the music. So why not have an option to use it in game?
Finally. To hell with you all. The post is aimed at the Devs, I posted in General so folks could suggest/add FF titles that had BGM they enjoyed.

Customizable music is fine but please, nothing in the Cash Shop. Theatrhythm was bad enough.

I'm sure everyone would love more music and variety.

I think you'll find most people are objecting to your IMMEDIATE plea to put it in the cash shop. Why was that necessary? Why not just ask for more music options?

If SE decide to put it in the shop, that sucks but so be it.

But right from the start, "PLEASE, TAKE OUR MONEY, HERE'S HOW"

    Just...why?

I'm aware I ramble a bit in this, but bear with me if you decide to read it all. TL;DR is the gist lol.

I'm not exactly against being able to customize music for each zone, but I'd rather not see music packs as DLC at all. Such DLC works fine for multi-series games like Dissidia FF and Theathrhythm FF, but not for an MMO with it's own soundtrack.

I am aware of the fact that we have a few reworks of past FF music that isn't the Prelude, Main Theme of FF, or the Chocobo theme (such as themes used in Labyrinth of the Ancients/Syrcus Tower, and Battle on the Big Bridge) and one direct rip from another game (FF6 boss battle). This isn't counting the music used for special events (LR:FFXIII, FFXI, and Dragon Quest).

Each of the reworked/reused songs used served a specific purpose. For example; the reworked CT musics are there because it's based on the final areas of Final Fantasy III, the music is memorable and nostalgic for some. The Crystal Tower theme itself is fairly well known in the series, despite it not being used in multiple games (to my knowledge), it's kind of one of those "we had to" moments I think. Another example is Battle on the Big Bridge. It is one of the most well known themes from Final Fantasy, and it's essentially Gilgamesh's theme. To not use the theme would be a disappointment to the fans for that very reason, as Gilgamesh is a recurring character in the Final Fantasy series and the theme has been reworked on multiple occasions.

This is in contrast to the themes used from FFXI, FFXIII, and DQ, as they were event specific. The tracks were used nowhere else in the game and only resurfaced when the events were relaunched. Personally, I'd rather not have them be used again unless an event using those games again is made.

Then there's the original FF6 boss battle theme in the game. The purpose was mainly to make people nostalgic for a silly fight in the Hildibrand storyline. I would have preferred a rework like the other themes got, but I'd be lying if I wasn't extremely happy when the theme started playing.

If we were able to say, select certain boss music for specific fights, it kind of renders the point of the music chosen for the boss moot. I'm well aware of how tiresome music can become. And while I do like the theme for the final boss of a dungeon, I have grown tired of it. But still, I'd rather new compositions be written for future dungeons and fights rather than just be given the option to replace X theme with Y theme.

It's kind of the same thing with replacing other songs in the game. What reason is there for Tifa's theme to be used as a fishing theme (using your example)? What reason is there for it to be in the game? I think the only way the theme would make an appearance is if Tifa shows up in an FF7 related event. Perhaps Fisherman's Horizon could make an appearance (seeing as how they used FF2's battle theme in a couple story battles), but regardless, in most cases the reused music has had reason to be in the game.

What would be the purpose for older FF music showing up (even as DLC)? Simply just to replace the current themes made specifically for FFXIV? What would be the point of composing new music for FFXIV when people can just place another theme over it with an in game option when they can recycle so much music?

    TL;DR

I'm not against a BGM selector for certain types of content, but I'm not for it either. I personally probably wouldn't use the BGM selector if we got one.

Regarding Cash Shop: I'd rather new compositions be written for the game over having DLC packs containing music from past games (even if remixed). DLC music seems like a VERY bad idea for the game. Currently, the majority of recycled music served specific purposes (Battle on the Big Bridge = Gilgamesh fight, FFXIII music specifically for FFXIII related content) and is included with the content given to us because of our monthly service payments.

And if we get more recycled music, it should have good reason to be there. The only FF themes I can currently see returning with a justified reason are the Gold Saucer theme (+ possible minigames) and more Final Fantasy III CT music (specifically the final boss theme and the Dark World theme, possibly Eureka's theme as well) since they're coming relatively soon.

The music in this game is a masterpiece. With all possible respect, asking for it to be changed is insulting, in my opinion. I loved 1.0 music too (all FF titles for that matter), but 1.0 is no more. Eorzea has changed, and with it came a new atmosphere. The music is just an integral part of the story as the visual picture is. Sound Director Soken has and continues to do an outstanding job on FFXIV.

for people who really dislike the current direction of the music in this game
Art is in the eye of the beholder. But for real? How?
