Don't take no for an answer that you aren't interested or compatible. Some make alts and join your FC and all. If you post your discord, they have two ways of contacting you. and they can make multi accounts in discord and appear again in your life until you figure it out. soo many things happen. just be careful and cautious. yeah, these all match up with what I've heard. no reason to be discouraged but everyone is different in what they can handle so it's good to know.
