I'm pretty sure "I prefer other girls" is used because it's the nice/easy way to say "No guys". I would think it's pretty obvious for people that the person likes other girls but guys tend to answer regardless of whether or not they say "girls preferred" or "girls only". Hoping that maybe they might be the exception.

You don't see the girls responding to guys who want other guys.

One, I didn't make up the dictionary I'm only saying what is a fact. The word preference means leaving a door half way closed. This does not mean it is closed so don't be surprised when people try coming in. As for the second part besides the pint that there are like 4 girls in this 776 page thread girls don't need to respond to guys who want other guys they have a pool over hundreds guys have a pool of a few select few.
