but you still find more options. Yes, they are not what you are looking for but find them. It is different with women playing as males in game because the moment they know, the majority will ghost them or ask them to change. If they say yes, they might be a good pair as friends or more. If they say no, they are ghosted. I am not saying that those that find someone will be a person with good character and won't see them more than just someone to have fun with. But even for that, male players will still want a female avatar. We saw how many male players meet trans woman or gay guys but are not told that and enjoy their time with those players until they found out because those players are playing female avatars. Of course, then we get to see here or outside the game many people ranting on how they were lied and how they can't find anyone. That is another story I don't want to talk about.

The other thing that I noticed is that some female players are into ERP but then again they are poly, and the male player didn't like it.

In the overall, you can can find many interested at you as a female player playing a female avatar in comparison to female players playing as male avatars. That is all I am saying.

I really wasn't referring to you. I was talking about this 100 percent of women playing women finding someone. sorry about the confusion. I know there are people out there but many of them don't even read the post. they see woman playing a woman and BAM insta-message...nothing else matters. The quest begins...
As for women playing men, most of the ones I spoke to do it so they are not bothered by men looking for erp. The men not looking for ERP don't normally ask her to be a female character and will accept her for the character she has chosen.

Everyone is correct in some way or another as long as "100 percent" is not used. Because not ALL the people will find someone for them for one reason or another. We just hope one day we will. I wish you all the best looking for that partner you want to be with, whether its for bonding, items, love, romance, gaming partner or what ever it is you wish to have.

I honestly never realized how much the gender of a person’s avatar impacted these relationships. I suppose that personally I’ve always placed more value in finding someone with whom I can hold a conversation and enjoy the content of FFXIV with and never gave character gender too much consideration. Although, I guess people can’t exactly help what they do or do not like, even if that applies to the gender of a person’s in-game avatar.

Either way, I wish those of you in this thread the very best of luck finding someone that you’re compatible with. Having a good friend to experience the game with does seem like it would make the game even more enjoyable.

Well at least now you know to include that in your 20 questions, haha. I can definitely see where you’re coming from though, it can be difficult to find a good connection with people in game some times. It would be wonderful to develop a close friendship with someone to experience the game with, but for some reason a lot of people online expect you to do most of the “heavy lifting” in terms of carrying the conversation, or expect to simply bypass the whole getting to know each other part of forming a friendship entirely.

Personally, I’ve been hoping to find someone that I could develop such a friendship with as well, as I think it would make the game even more enjoyable. However, as I’m in a committed relationship IRL and am not comfortable having anything more than a friendship outside of the game, finding a true “partner in crime”, as you put it, has not been a particularly easy task.

Sorry to hear its a struggle for you. and I am glad you have a committed IRL relationship and continue to respect it within the game. There are some who have a IRL commitment and ignore it the moment the computer turns on or the other person just steps all over your boundaries you placed. It's really difficult that's for sure. It's like there needs to be classes and seminar on how to respect people and communicate. It is quite ironic to enter a realm of online communication which can be essential to help progress in the game and yet many of the people don't do it.

You can't know how much of a impact it can have when you play a character who's gender matches your own and its the one being requested. I'm generally speaking.

I'm one of those guys that plays female characters and because of that, I could never meet anyone from this thread. If I were to change to male, I wouldn't be happy and problems would stem from that. Before diving into a relationship or even a friendship, you gotta identify any potential problems with yourself and decide if there's getting around it. Sometimes you can't. Indeed the personality of a person should have much more value than the avatar they use to represent as aspect of themselves. That's essentially what our characters are doing anyway.

I've never had guys hit on me in the game, I don't get tells and whatnot. I've had a few gawk at my character though, but that's it. Some guys just know what you are instinctively. I've been the outside observer, when it's clear without a doubt the female character is in fact a female, she becomes this beacon for all the guys to come out of the wood works. It's almost funny to me, but I know for her it is not, unless she likes that kind of attention.

I read this thread though and I've commented on some posts that struck my interest. I've either fallen short due to my age(38; some here are too young and others want someone 40+) or they want a M/M character. I saw one here who was practically pleading for a guy to get it right, and I was gonna step up because I felt I could do it, but again that M/M restriction. I've since given up hope on that and just play the game.

I’m sorry to hear you’ve had a difficult time finding the right fit. After further consideration, I can understand why people would have a strong preference one way or the other in regards to the gender of their partner’s avatar with how popular gposing and taking screenshots together is. Though for someone in your situation, male playing a female avatar, it sounds as if that adds an additional hurdle in finding a compatible person, which I imagine is frustrating. However, playing a character you enjoy is certainly important. I know you mentioned you’ve given up, but I’ll wish you luck regardless as you never know what might happen. So, good luck!
