Sorry that's a bad habit of mine. I meant 'you' in the general sense. I was seconding your point of protecting yourself, via not treating it as any dating or marriage expectation. The first sounds like a Drama King for sure. But the second is a little iffy. It almost sounds like he deserves a second chance but there's also a lot of context I'm not privy to.
