This newbies #1 pet peeve with FFXIV *rant warning*

Economy: rank10 leather armor costs 30k-40k a piece and rank12 weapons are 30-50k in Figaro, I guess this is because newbie gear is usable to people with rank50 job too but upgrading your gear with this economy is a pain for a noob. I tried crafting route but sheeps spawn so slow, drop rates are abysmal and sheeps are camped 24/7 because everyone wants to cash in with sheep armor.

I'm afraid this is because for the last 11 months the game has been simply throwing gil at us and as a result anyone that has been playing consistently since last year has many millions to their name

Do the main quest. It may seem very slow at first, but after about rank15 it throws gil at you. You really don't need new gear rank 1-15 or so. Another way to get easy gil is hunt marmots. Their hides sell for 500gil and most are rank 1-3. Grind away and buy all you want. Also know that gear levels with you so you can buy level48 gear if you want. It doesn't fully help you till the suggested level, but it still gives you appropriate bonuses.

Oh this is sooo true. When I left, I was making gil hand over fist. Selling crystals was the way to make fast easy gil for me. I used another character to just do the farming and sold the crystals on his retainer. Then had my main fix my ("crystal seller's") gear and he would then offer the 200K or so to me to fix. This was VERY SKETCHY as ANY noob could have fixed the gear and rolled with my gil but luckily for me that didn't happen. This could have been avoided DEVS if you had a stinking mail system. -.- :P I noticed the rise in prices when I came back and was astounded by them. My thoughts were the same as yours Kishe that the R50s had nothing better to do then place stuff in the wards and ask rediculous prices because they hope the noobs won't know any better. But trying to sell R10 gear for 999,999,999 is F'ing retarded!

Stormcastle makes another good point that you can buy w/e the heck you want when you want as long as you have the gil. This is why I think they should have kept the original job specific gear/weaps as it was in XI and other MMOS but they did not. Sometimes, it's a PITA to figure out what you REALLY need or just want.

And while Stormcastle is correct, they (SE) should just let you buy gear for each job that just ranks with you as is. So one set for each job and that's it. Otherwise, SE really shouldn't allow you to equip gear out of your Rank or Level as it will be changed too. Doesn't mean you shouldn't be allowed to purchase it just not equip it yet.
