You misunderstand me. I agree with your philosophy. I use macros to reduce the amount of effort without sacrificing versatility.

I play on PS4. I do not have an infinite amount of keybinds available. I have 32 without having to switch hotbars. I have to be very selective about what gets into my 32 (protect and summons, for example, go on a separate hotbar) to use macros to save spaces. I very carefully chose macros that would not sacrifice versatility in battle or box me in. Examples of my space saving macros are:
    Place/heel
    Swiftcast/res
    Aetherflow/energy drain

You are correct. This is why my macro has <t> as the first line. That way I can always target the old fashioned way, and have the convenience of <f> and <tt> when I want it. I am in complete control and sacrificing no versatility.

We will have to agree to disagree on that point. As a PS4 player, I cannot simply click to target, so switching is a much more cumbersome and time consuming process. I also see value in using macros to improve efficiency and allow me to focus more attention on other things, so long as they don't box me in. Besides that, interrupt macros do bring some value to the table beyond just efficiency.

All things considered, our philosophies are similar. My macros are efficient, but not lazy. If I were on PC, I would probably do more things the way you do them.

I love the place/heel macro and how you can use guard/obey as an interrupt, I had been using stay/heel in separate macros, this will really streamline everything! Thank you!

As contribution, /macrolock is a great command to use in some macros. It basically locks out other macros from being activated until all lines below the /macrolock line has been done, and thus can protect certain faerie commands from interruption.

For example, my macro for Whispering Dawn (converting it into "Steady/Guard" interrupt) is

    /macroicon "Whispering Dawn" pet Eos
    /macrolock
    /pac Steady
    /pac Guard
    /pac "Whispering Dawn" <wait.2>

This ensures that WD gets cast even if you accidentally mash the button or even press another macro with interrupt. However, since /macrolock will prevent you from activating another macro until the macro with it has run through, macros using this command may interrupt your Embrace + Heal macros, which is one reason I do not use such macros.

Other reasons for me not using Embrace + Heal Macros are these babies:

    /focustarget
    /echo Embrace eternity, <f>!
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <f> <wait.2>
    /echo <p> asks: Should I heal again, Mistress? <se.11>

    /echo Embrace eternity, <2>!
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <2> <wait.2>
    /echo <p> asks: Should I heal again, Mistress? <se.11>

    /echo Embrace eternity, <3>!
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /pac "Embrace" <3> <wait.2>
    /echo <p> asks: Should I heal again, Mistress? <se.11>

These macros force my faerie to heal my focustarget, Tank 1 or Tank 2 (respectively) for 5-8 consecutive times (see the wait 2 secs? They work as "cooldown ques" per the terms used here) unless another macro is used to interrupt it. This lets me focus on healing other members of my group as needed. Of course when I use another macro I have to reapply one of those macros if I need to.

I pitched this exact style of macro over 6 months ago and everyone thought it was pointless because it "doesn't let you use other macros". Glad to see at least one person understands the value in it.

it really does make a world of difference when you actually take the time to pay a little attention to/ learn how to control your fairies. good job on this

Thank you so very much for the guide and also macros, i have had sch at 50 for a few months now but only now really getting into it and liking it
Hopefully FC people don't see me post this and ask me to heal endgame, haha
Also i am on PS4 as well, so the hotbar is very limited and therefore was thinking of using macros

Huh I'm surprised I actually knew some of this already (I thought I was a genius by fusing an eos and selene ability into a macro for the 3 of them), but that guard steady interrupt will help me a lot more than my current heel interrupt macro.

    Good read and very helpful.

I've been playing WHM for 5 straight months and just now got myself a good book for my SCH (the rank 45 PvP one). These tips have helped me a lot in getting used to playing SCH and I'm very quickly getting the hang of it. It's fun.

I mainly play for PvP and there is so much going on during a flag fight, you don't always have time to focus on the specifics of your pet. I thus made a good macro for my Eos buffs. It will also work even if Eos is on the move. Just spam it every minute like when your AF refreshes and make sure you're near Eos as she casts her buffs.

I have two concerns/suggestions with that macro:
    1. The 1 second wait may not be enough after whispering dawn. I would think it would need 2 or 3. Have you tested it outside combat?
    2. If you spam that macro, you will cancel whispering dawn. You must be very disciplined to use this once while you are ready to use rouse and to let the macro run it's full course. You also have to not use other macros until it is done. This would be a good macro to use that /macrolock command Layla mentioned earlier in the thread.
