Crafting version of a training dummy?

I was thinking, would it be possible for crafters to get some kind of cheap way to practice 3 star and 4 star crafting?
You know, give us a readily available synth that only uses one cheap material (Maybe something sold by vendors?) and a few shards with the same stats as a 3/4 star craft, that can be HQed but is functionally worthless?
I mean, battle classes get training dummies to practice their rotations on, I just think it would be cool if there were some kind of actual in game craft that let us practice with more end game crafting instead of having to actually synth 3 and 4 star items, which would be extraordinarily expensive just to practice with.
I know that there's crafting simulators out there, but it's not really the same thing. At least, not to me.
I really can't imagine that taking very much to put in, and it seems like it would be a pretty harmless Quality of Life change to me.

I think all SE need to do if they ever want to give us this, is creating extra recipes that require very cheap mats (like the lvl 1-5 recipes), and the end product can just be some trash item (with fancy name).

That is what I had in mind, yes.
Though, I cannot stress how crucial it would be to have those items sold by vendors
Otherwise, it might end up being extraordinarily expensive and kind of defeating the point, if only because people would farm the mobs that drop them and end up skyrocketing the price

This is why I went for Culinarian as my first 4-star crafting class, you can play around with a lot of different rotations without blowing millions on "test crafts".

I crafted enough with that class to know ABOUT the % the last Byregot's Blessing will give under several different circumstances. Helps out a lot.

This is also the same reason I went ahead and made CUL my first artisan'ed craft, but even so, I find it mildly nerve wrecking to be crafting with mats like that.
I was thinking something along the lines of the way the Ixali beast tribe dailies work, where you get one material and then craft it into another item, which can't really be used for anything, with really no stress if you mess it up because the materials are readily available to practice on.

My crafting version of a dummy.... Platinum nugget for 3 star and bacon bread or any other culinarian 4 star recipes. the profits of platinum nugget is hillarious... 800 gil turns into 20k profit. I love that stuff.

A testing mode might be nice.

It's the real thing, only you don't get the item you crafted/lost at the end, but you don't lose the mats either.

Material synths are cheap for the most part.

There are also many crafting simulators on the web that work fairly well.
