    well, as far as i know, this particular person was not there to spirit bond. he only had one high quality item. and none of them had materia slotted. anyhow, i realize the way things is calculated is working as intended as per how it was programed. but the point is is that this is no longer good enough. either people realize this and take advantage of it on purpose, or even it's on accident. an improvement to the way item level is calculated will help prevent people with less then sub-par gear from entering places they don't belong... yet. having sub-par gear is bad enough. but at least having the IL45/55 gear from your job quest is better then what he had. (which is still below sub-par for that instance)

    in any case, i don't think a depreciation value starting at a difference of 21 item levels or higher would be too strict. so like if you have on the left IL100 gear and on the right IL120 accessories, you are okay. but if either side has a greater difference, then one of the pieces will contribute less to your AIL. this just an example, though.



    either way, i don't know if Square Enix plans to refine the way AIL is calculated or not. but it would be nice to see it become intuitive, so people can't misrepresent their actual combat capabilities.
