The Tedium of Alt Characters

I don't suppose there's been any consideration where alternate characters on the same or separate servers are concerned?

I have a single alt I'd enjoy playing with, but unlocking everything with her that I unlocked with my main would be incredibly boring, especially with the grinds we get regularly introduced to with each patch.

So I propose at the very least a small service fee added to one's subscription, which links a character of your choice to another, allowing them to share dungeon unlocks and level progression for classes and levels. They'd have individual inventories, but only the same set of retainers, allowing said characters to share relic gear and giving players the opportunity to give an identity to certain classes.

Thoughts?

So basically you're wanting SE to, in short, let you somewhat play as two characters at once, sharing relic gear AND levels, basically making a dupe of a pre existing character?

I say no to this cause it is ridiculous.

What you are asking is pretty much to transfer everything(classes,lvls, exp, relics) you did on your main char to another char regardless of what server that char is. If you think about this from SE standpoint as a busniness do you even think they will do this?

So you basically want a phantasia and name change when swapping between the two, or do you want to bypass coil/tome lockouts as well?

I think having an alt character or characters is quite ridiculous. I can understand how some create them to run raids, that may have 1 drop a week or 1 win per week, create an alt to help friends with the content they cleared on their mains, but there is so much stuff to do on one character: dailies, roulettes, challenge log, etc that it just seems very bizarre and quite perplexing for others to want to have a whole separate character to do that on the alt.
I can do a gaming session of about 9 hours and still not get all I want to get done accomplished. I'm not sure what planet some of you alt hording players live on, but how many hours are in your days and do you have a portable restroom on hand?
I think though, to get on topic, if you want an alt, nothing should be transferred over but veteran rewards, as long as your alt is still on your main account.

I understand the standpoint of there being dailies and so on, but this isn't for the purpose of being at a constant level across servers. What I'm saying is that there's not a sense of being distinguished between job classes when they're all just a guy who changes hats.

What's the solution then? The same character, but when they swap jobs, they swap faces and names? I thought my first proposal was areasonable one without taking it and running directly into the territory of "So you want SE to officially sanction RMT activity?" There's middle ground between perks for the sake of RP, and the exploitation of the game.

I run dailies the same as anyone else. That's not where my head is in this scenario. I'm aiming at actually playing as different characters for the purpose of bringing further characterization to your chosen jobs. If we weren't even slightly interested in unique or specialized looks, at the very least, we wouldn't have taken to the Glamour system so voraciously.

I don't need alt characters for my different jobs. I play me and it wouldn't change if I was on a whole different character. I am versatile and reliable if people need a role filled. I want to tank but if a group needs a heal or dps I'm up for it.
Sure it's a pain to gear up all the jobs but my lowest ilv is sch at 103 and my highest is pld at i113. I take pride in that. Lots of work and dedication.
