    That can only mean 1 of two things.

    1) They know that the OP is right. That this game needs major overhauls to the way users interact with the client and other glaring structural problems with the game. They either are working on a fix, or have admitted defeat by staying silent.

    Trolling aside, the dev's do not reply to every single thread in these forums and just because they haven't responded doesn't mean either of the things you said. 1. this topic was started on the weekend, they do not reply to posts on the weekend. 2. this is not a brand new issue and even some of the most popular suggestion threads go unanswered. 3. a topic titled "the fact of the matter is" as if square enix and the devs should be stunned by the OP's stellar deduction of what is wrong with the game is not the best way to get the thread answered.

    I don't have a link on me at the moment but I remember seeing a community rep saying that while they can't answer every thread that they do at least read them. Since most of us likely aren't Computer Science Master's with a speciality in Networking and Server-Client based online games, I don't forsee any of us being able to provide a specific solution to the problem. Besides a slew of people saying "this needs to get fixed" and arguing over whether Crystal Tools is or isn't a capable MMORPG engine hasn't really contributed anything to this thread. The most we can hope for is that the dev's take our woes seriously (which they likely do, their careers are at stake) and we will see a fix sometime.

    I don't really have an issue other then the slow retainers and such.
    Ok its not super responsive but then its not as FPS so its not a game braking issues.

    The client server side is the main thing (from what little i bothered to read) that could be an issue. I understand thier intention but i dont think its really needed, all the anti RTM ideas they have we know about serve to annoy the players as much as do anything i would think.
    No fullscreen windowed and alt-tab kills the game so some are forced to use windower or other such programs.
    Not being able to run my 2nd client from the same Pc is my main annoyance.

    and many people are at least aware of bot programs or the many gaming keyboard you can virtually bot with anyway.
    (Gaa fail, just realised my auto correct has been putting "key bored" every time till.. thats well... meh! anwyay)

    To the OP:
    I doubt that SE are not aware or working on improvements, we could use a technical round up, but the only guys that do that in a mmo I'm aware off is CCP, so I wouldn't hold my breath in SE changing the customer relations to that level.

    Leave PC specs out of this comparison, focus on what these 2 games can do with the same hardware.

    Witcher 2 1600x900 on high settings minus motion blur in the awesome forest in chapter 1: 4 core CPU 30%, GPU 98%, about 40fps

    FFXIV 1600x900, general draw quality 7, background quality 3, no DoF or AO in the black shroud, no player characters around: CPU 50% (can't ever use more than the equivalent of 2 cores), GPU 98%, about 40fps

    -FFXIV is always using max CPU (2 cores)
    -FFXIV framerate takes a serious hit as soon as a couple of player characters show in screen
    -FFXIV forest looks like crap, blocky trees with crappy textures, fake leaves above, barely any foliage... etc...

    The argument that MMO engines can't be optimized is BS. What they can't do is predict and control how many characters will show up on screen at any given time. FFXIV performance drops so much with just a couple of characters on screen that there is no way they can justify it.


    Temperature complaints are out of place though, no game may tax your system beyond 100% (overclocking aside, but that's not the game's doing). If your main concern with the engine's crappy performance is overheating you should just get your PC looked at by someone who really knows about gaming hardware.

    I don't know how you could expect a response so quickly. The reps report our thoughts to the dev team (which they could have only done today, not during the weekend), the devs make up an adequate response during the next JP work day and then, maybe on the day after the reps can translate their response to us.

    I'm bumping this thread because the message in the OP is incredibly important to the future of this game. Without proper server fixes, better optimization and a client-side UI - all these fixes will have been for nothing.

    I want to see them respond to this issue without the sugar coating or evasive maneuvers that SE is known for.

    I am not a computer genius but I have a question.

    They announced their new engine using directx 11 technology last week or so (well there was a thread reporting it last week) and people said that it was most likely be used for their new MMO, which very well could be, and that moving FFXIV would be practically impossible.

    My question is why? If their new engine uses the same programming structure, wouldn't it be possible to port it in this new optimized (hopefully) engine?

    It depends on any number of things which could in turn depend on any number of other things. SE may have designed it to specifically cater to different purposes than Crystal Tools. On the other hand, they could have designed it with the intent of it being compatible for Crystal Tools upgrades and this is part of the "server fixes" they are referring to. Such matters are also probably company secrets until further notice.

    We have no idea really and we currently have no way of knowing for sure unless SE makes some form of press release on the subject. Anyone who tells you otherwise is simply playing the guesswork.
