Chocobo class barding

Okay so I recently had my chocobo reach rank 10 and as I was leveling I spec'ed the chocobo as a defender, so ended up getting the paladin barding when I popped the last points into that spec. Needless to say pretty happy, and I used the thavarian onion which unlocked rank 11.

However, I decided since I no longer main white mage, I needed my chocobo to be a healer. So I bought the fruit, fed it, and dumped all points into healer.. and didn't get the white mage barding? Is this a bug? Working as intended? Or do I need to rank 11 to get the white mage barding? I'd really like to get that barding.

Working as intended. You'll need enough points to max out a second tree in order to get a second barding.

you need rank 16 for the whm barding and 20 for drg barding (in your case)

you need one role at rank 10 for the first barding, 2 roles at rank 10 for the second barding and all 3 roles at rank 10 for the third barding

Your Chocobo reaches Rank 10 in one tree, you can re-spec it and claim the barding of the second tree (Because you have not yet claimed the barding from the NPC)
However:
Your Chocobo reaches Rank 10 in one tree and you claim the barding, you can re-spec it but can not claim the barding of the second tree (Because you have claimed the barding from the NPC)

Getting your second set of Barding will be faster though, because once your chocobo caps you will receive 11 points and so on ^^

False. When you reach Rank 10 in a single tree the barding is automatically added to your list of bardings. There is no NPC to talk to. If you put 10 ranks into Defender your chocobo automatically receives the Paladin barding. There's nothing you can do once you give your chocobo that 10th Rank.
