    I take it that not everyone is familiar with Nico Nico Douga-style comments on live video feeds.

    They're like ticker-tape feeds, except that they scroll right across the screen, not just along the bottom edge. They're pretty old-hat in Japan by now, and I actually like the dynamism they add to the video footage — you get the sense that everyone is commenting on what they see, in real-time.

    But foreigners who aren't used to them will find the comments extremely distracting, if not downright annoying.
