    anyway, yes the ninja need more glamour option for weapon and clothing... only two "ninja" armor, the AF and the fuuma. sadly for this last one the body armor clips badly when you enter in fight more because of this ugly armor pad on the waist... i had done a post on the item forum but well no answer...
    same i was really sad when i have seen the end of the line for the ninja relic, they are one more time dagger not ninja weapon. at the end i wonder if we are not playing the thief class disguised as ninja. give us more tanto, wakizaki,....
    i can understand that japanese are bored to see them, but the game is not japan only :x

    Wow, does it really matter? It's obvious that you (and others) know what I mean when using the term "Katana". It would actually make more sense to people that aren't as versed in Japanese as yourself as before your posts I had no idea what Tanto was (had to look it up). Generally the use of the word "Katana" to English speakers that don't speak Japanese is used to describe a Japanese sword.

    In addition to this, I even used the "Ninja relic weapon" as an example of what we need more of in-game. Call it a fogglebutt if you want - I don't give a rats. This thread wasn't to argue semantics of a foreign language that myself (and many others) are not versed in.

    Actually, yes, it does matter. You wouldn't call a Roman Gladius a Dagger or a Longsword a Claymore.

    I should have known not to bother with the official forums.

    Katana was a common term used in XI when referring to dual-wield Ninja arms.
    Considering that the localization team chose to use the word Katana (for short blade/Ninja) and Great Katana (for traditional full-length/Samurai) has to tell you seomthing.

    While it may not be technically correct - it is easier to understand without undertaking a doctorate of Japanese History.

    It was obvious that Gralna knew the intended meaning, however decided to try and prove their superior knowledge of Japanese history (which I never denied) by being a pain in the butt..

    I suppose I am too used to FFXI's Katanas (NIN) and Great Katanas (SAM) so to say Ninjas use Katanas doesn't sound odd to me.

    However if I could choose I'd like them to have the chain sickle like Hanzo Hattori from Samurai Warriors (maybe as a two-handed weapon, like Conjurer's canes and THM's staves versus wands and scepters, but that would probably require katanas to be turned into one-handed and thus split in two so that the other goes to sub slot.. not gonna happen sadly).

    With ALL that aside, I like the look of machetes personally.

    most weapons for Rogue/Ninja are from the Gladitor/Paladin but just in dagger form!! <.<;

    I use those: http://de.xivdb.com/?item/9214/Jambiyas My retainer found them o;
    They look fancy and suits my Ninja class outfit -a pink (with little gold on it) Yukata o;

    Wished we has way more Eastern region Katanas - real ninja use not just medieval daggers :X

    Katana's are far too long. You mean a Tanto or since the weapons FFXIV uses on Ninja are a little large they would use Wakizashi instead. Katana's are two handed weapons.

    Wasn't it like ... maybe 10 ninjas on our Eorzia continent? They wouldn't be everywhere and considered normal or they'd be here when 2.0 hit.

    Don't forget the gross poetic set......wth...looks like something out of Matrix with horns on one shoulder.
    Had to glamour it with one of the Yukatas and getas we got on the summer event + some long pants and the fingerless gloves you get on a new character, to make it look somewhat japaneish...
