for the bards that bought the poe chest piece

i'm very sorry that you wasted your poe but the il110 sold chest is better and if you can afford it the kirimu hq coat is best in slot if melded with 4 crit 4's and 1 det 4 materia. i understand if you want to wear it still though to feel like it wasn't a waste.

higher item levels don't always mean better stats.

And now tell us why you felt the need to open a new thread for an information (not even a discussion) that everybody and their mom already knows about...

because i actually see a lot of bards using it over the sold piece. if you try to tell them they either don't listen or insist that higher il's means better stats. why so grumpy?

When you see bards wearing the poe top, either they don't know what they're doing or care more about how it looks than its stats. Most likely the former.

could be both. i see and hear a lot of bards that want to get into the class because they think it's easy to do well and end up making wrong choices. an example of that would be i knew a few bards that macro'd pretty much everything to heavy shot(bloodletter, buffs, stuff like that) thinking it would be better when in actuality it'll just lower their damage and hurt them more.

Because of the way you made your statement. "i'm very sorry that you wasted your poe" sounds very elitist to me tbh, though I guess it wasn't meant that way... ^^

On topic: I think the kind of player that even considers buying a chest piece with crappy stats doesn't care that much about min/maxing. They most likely just want a new, cool looking piece of gear that is higher ilvl, which is totally okay. They are most likely not going to either spend the gil or time spiritbonding to meld two Crit IV's into low percentage slots and the dreadwyrm piece will probably also be out of reach.

But anyway, yeah, i clearly see where you're coming from...

ah, no i didn't mean it in a harmful way. i just saw a bunch of them lately and thought i'd post it on here so they would know if they saw it by chance :].

and yeah you're probably right :b. some of the ironworks stuff does have a nice allagan thing to it that fits with the il90 weapons.

Nothing wrong with being ignorant. It's the refusal to learn that becomes the problem.

That being said though, don't gloat bout your item level when you still die to divebombs :v

Not really the place for this, I know. But I am currently levelling a Bard at the moment. What gear should I be aiming for when I hit level 50? I'm saving Poetics for other classes at the moment, and I'm still working towards T9 (so gear from that is off limits for now), but if someone could recommend a decent enough ST/Soldiery/HA build I would appreciate that.

Soldiery: body (or crafted) > earring > wrist > neck > ring > belt were all BiS before 2.4. Don't buy the body unless you can cover the accuracy.

Soldiery bow (Rosenbogen) was a curse and can force you to eat lava toad legs. Only get bow if you have a tomestone waiting.
Shiva Bow if need the accuracy
Shiva bracelet is best if you can cover the accuracy loss from soldiery bracelet.
Ramuh ring is best if you can cover accuracy loss from t8 ring.

ST: Amon pants/boots are very good for accuracy. Hands are very good if you have enough accuracy. Body is good too.

2nd coil: t6 boots/t7 hands, head/t8 pants, ring, neck - all BiS before 2.4. t8 neck is only better than soldiery if you can cover acc loss.

In the end, I'd spam ST for oils, sands, tome, amon pants/boots/hands/body. Do t7 and t8 as those have the better bard pieces.
