And as I said, I would be annoyed, but overall alright in the end, if NIN has DRG-level posisitnal requirements. But I'm not happy about this change, and I still feel like it's un-needed, due to the fact that I always felt freedom of movement was a class feature. But I realize that just because I find dance around the mob like a crazy person to be the most enjoyable way to fight, doesn't necessarily means anyway, let alone the devs, agrees.

As my girlfriend likes to say "They're nerfing my fun!"

i will be blunt, you want a class with positional, monk is there for that, don't make us the same.... it's simple. it's lazy and bad to do this.

We shouldn't really be surprised that NIN's being made a bit more complex. They do DRG-equivalent damage with fewer constraints and, given current content at least, surpass MNK because of the relative lack of impact that fight mechanics have on their DPS. It's also worth noting that it is entirely reasonable for people to assume that more difficult play has some sort of pay-off in terms of overall damage dealt (or general effectiveness in other ways). As it stands, MNK is only becoming more complex in terms of mechanics with the addition of Chakra, which means that if NIN and MNK were ever going to be at parity with one another, NIN would have to become more complex as well.

We've no reason to expect serious positional gameplay, especially given the recent DRG adjustments. We'll likely see our main combos split into Flank and Rear in some fashion--I'll be very surprised if we need to move every 1-2 Weaponskills the way MNK frequently needs to. The recent DRG update also suggests that our combos and additional effects will work regardless of position. Combine this with the fact that, presumably, they still intend for Ninjutsu to be the main element of complexity for NIN, and it's really doubtful that positionals are going to be that big of a shift for us. They themselves said the NIN changes are minor and we have no reason to believe anything different.

The sky isn't falling. NIN was still more versatile relative to the other two melee, which meant we would see one of two things moving forward: either the further dumbing down of melee play for DRG and (especially) MNK so that they had the same freedom that NIN does, or the addition of at least some complexity to NIN's gameplay. They went with the latter, most likely because MNK wouldn't really be MNK if it was stripped of all it's fancy footwork, thematically (and let's face it, striking at positions of weakness has always been a staple of Rogue and Ninja in RPGs since the 70s--nothing's really out of place here).

I'm just worried that NIN doesn't look like they are getting anything exciting compared to DRG or MNK. I really hope once everything is revealed that ninja will get some new skills that will be awesome to try out. Right now I'm really debating in going DRG as my dps.

Is anyone else dreading the NIN positionals, or is it just me?
we have a lot of issues that affect directly our cycle and dps.... and they want to throw on top of this the positionning?
You aren't the only one. I hate positionals.
Do we have any info at all on the positionals? Like, are we getting turned into MNKs with daggers
i feel the same dude... i don't stop to say it... it's the worst change they can do to the jobs, a lot of person did choose ninja because of the lack of positional.... bring it into the ninja more of 6 month after is kinda rude and insulting for this player.
Adding positionals to Ninja is very souring.

Seriously all the crying over positionals makes me cringe deep inside me. It's nothing hardcore, it's basic character movement. If you don't suck, you'll know that you can just ride the line between flank and rear to hit positional with minimal movement involved, which makes positionals almost obsolete. We dont ask you to do figures like great 8's and jump on place doing a 360 before hitting a move. Just move one step right/left, and boom. Done.

Also Ninja being the latest job released, it has the heavensward mindset in it's gameplay imo, hence why they don't get as much change compared to other job's who had ARR mindset in them. You can cry over it as long as you want, you are free to do so, and you are also free to leave the job if you are not pleased, good players that raid know that theses changes, although they might not be as exciting as mnk changes, won't affect their viability in raid content and they will still be able to perform enormous amount of dps, which they are already doing right now.

    Crying aside,

Does anyone know if Skill Speed is getting the same treatment as Spell Speed - buffing dot damage?
It's be nice if it helped auto-attacks too.

They should really give speed stats a resource regen to offset the faster resource consumption.
I wish there were more interesting stats in the game in general, too.

according to the article it appears that positionals will be only extending huton effects. so if u want to play as you do and refresh huton every 60 seconds you do that with
