This is true, coming from FFXI myself; They definitely have been known to have one of the worst customer support systems I've ever encountered.Answers from SE HAHAHA! When are people gonna learn they never give straight answers always sum generic answer.I have my own idea of whats going on and im not liking the way the game seems to be heading.I pray im wrong cuz i love this game as i did XI which i played from start.Long time fan but im losing Faith in SE quick ^.-
Hi, added this thread here : http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...45-Feedback%29
Even if some people says we are exagerating the stuff, "it doesn't affect so much" etc etc, it is a step into P2W, if we are permissive we will see further advances and incursions to it, I'm not looking forward to it.
I'll say it again because it seems people still don't notice this.
Subscription entitles you to access the servers (and gives you two free retainers + character slots if you chose a certain sub type). It does not give you any access to the content at all, technically. That's what buying the game and using the registration key does. In the case of the base game, the ARR code gives you access to the 2.x content. When the expansion comes, the Heavensward code will give you access to the 3.x content. And by content, I'd personally understand that to be the story. Things like Extreme versions of primals could be considered extras, that could technically be "paid content" if SE really wanted to go that route.
Now, you may not agree with that as a business decision, but that's more how it works (much closer to the "my sub fee gives me content" which it doesn't).
Under that knowledge, items that are in the cash shop are sold separately to the content that the key gives you access to. This is known as "additional charges/servers/options". There is no restriction on what can actually be made only "paid for". That discretion lies solely with SE, and as you see they have exercised that for certain items.
If you want to see more on this, check out the User Agreement that you agreed to when you started paying your subscription.
And just so it is there in the open, I don't disapprove of the cash shop. If there is something in there that I want, I will pay for it. Unfortunately for SE, I'm not a huge minion/mount collector (though I do like to get new ones) so I haven't bought those. I do, however, pay for the extra 2 retainers and have also paid for the platinum eternal bonding wristlets (x2). And if content such as extreme versions of battles, which do not drop anything other than titles or vanity only items (lv 1 things that are simply for looks), then I'd probably buy that too. And as much as many would complain at that, those who enjoyed that kind of content would probably pay for it too (though they may no say so so openly like I have). To be honest, it'd balance out the complaints from those who consider minions/mounts to be content (which is absolutely fine by me; if that's what you find fun I have no reason to disagree).
Is there really anything in the cash shop right now that could even be considered pay to win? The answer is no.Hi, added this thread here : http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...45-Feedback%29

You mean aside from the bracelets that people are selling for 5-10 million gil? Do you seriously feel like buying gil is not pay to win? Can you not buy T5-9 wins, extreme primals, etc. on your server or something? Person buys a bracelet for $20, sells it for 5mil, then pays a group to get them Turn 9 win + all loots and that seems ok to you? Really?
You must be misunderstanding the issue with this. I don't have any problem with them having wedding/vanity items in the cash shop, that is not the issue. The issue is that people can trade them for gil in game which can in turn be used for literally every win or piece of gear outside of final coil.
I don't care what others do in a video game. If someone wants to do that, it is their choice. It isn't going to bring down my gaming experience any and I don't know why it is affecting yours so much. Stop worrying what others are doing and play the game for yourself. The novelty will die down on the bracelets and dyes and will be worthless in a month. You mean aside from the bracelets that people are selling for 5-10 million gil? It doesn't matter if you care or not, you stated there is nothing that can be considered pay to win and that is simply wrong based on the fact that people are selling them in game for 5-10 million gil.
How do you know the hype will die down any time soon or that they won't add similar items to the shop that are tradeable? You don't have any viable evidence that even suggests that, just your opinion. I'm not going to pretend I have some insiders look at how things are going to go down, but don't pretend you can tell the future and call everybody wrong just because "you don't care".
Make the items untradeable and a lot less people are going to care but as long as they are tradeable then people will care and they will complain about it.
People can already make 5-10 million off the market board in very short time so selling a bracelet is no different. Experience tells me that the hype will die down. This isn't my first MMO and it probably isn't my last.
My advice is to calm down, relax, and take a deep breath and just enjoy the game. Don't concern yourself with what others do in the game.
