Limit how many craft you can do should have been here from day 1. Craft system was made for you to make friends and get item from them to make item for yourself and make profit for everyone. What did players do? they ended up level up every craft in the game so this system fail. limit it to 2 craft and half is good enough in my books anymore is crazy also if people want to level up more make more profit for SE due to the fact that cost 3$ per mule.
I don't understand why players are mad about this idea this would help out the market and profit for every craft. Before everyone just level up each craft and make there own stuff so profit is not made for other people at all. Stop the Dam QQ and see the good side of this change i hope SE does do this maybe then i can make profit. i had a high level craft before i reroll and i could not make any profit due to everyone level up the same craft
Then again everyone on here QQ SE going to listen to you guys over the good side of things. SE is becoming blizzard listening to there players way to much the forums is becoming a bad idea everyday.

Simply because they might want to make their favorite character a Master Blacksmith but if the character is already a Master Armorer, it's a lost goal. Permanent decisions like that kinda awkward in a game you're supposed to playing for years. Sure you could make a new character, but then you have to start from scratch with everything else and pay another dollar every month (dependent on what they do with the payment system and when they implement it).
It's not a feature I'm rooting for, but I could live with it.
Yes.
How dare they satisfy their customers. Only disaster can come from making them happy.
In Final Fantasy XI, players could level all crafts up to 60, and choose one craft to master to 100. There is nothing wrong with that and I wouldn't mind that being in this game. Allow players to get to 50 or whatever, then allow you to master only one. It would help gameplay and the server economy a lot more if people had to specialize at higher ranks.
In that one translation they said they'd like to limit us from mastering all craft classes, what this may translate to is a multitude of things. Perhaps only cap one class but can take the rest to -10 from cap. This would let you repair things but only make the best from a single class. Or it could mean level them all, but only get special benefits for a single class.
I think players should be allowed to reach max level on all crafts but I also think there should be a limiter somewhere. An idea would be 'specialization' in which the player chooses one or two specific crafts to specialize in, allowing the player to not only craft items that would be impossible without the specialization but also an easier time crafting items under said specialization in general. Players would then be able to freely switch specializations, but at a steep cost (guild marks might be good since max level crafters will have all the guild-items anyway, but also prevents the player from switching too often).
This idea could be taken further to include special Guild Tasks (the things you get from the Task Board) that would only be available to the player's specialized craft that would reward tokens that could then be used to buy unique and untradable equipment with the added effect of a much needed gil sink.

Translation from Reinheart's topic:
"Famitsu: Currently you can make all crafting class to rank 50 but later are you planning where you can only master one class only?
Matsui: It doesn’t mean the plan isn’t there but overall this isn’t being looked into yet.
Iwao: It’s certain we don’t want to make it all mighty?
Matsui: We’re also planning major changes to the crafter so first we have to make the ground work.
Yoshida: First we have to build strong foundation or even if we put something on top it’s just going to break. Making changes to recipe or making it feel good that you did crafter class. Also by adding material craft content being added sharpening the crafters."
It's only a PLAN. And it's not even being looked into yet. So its safe for now, I can assume. If they do decide to limit our 'master' crafting class, then it'll be after the cap-increase on the ranks.
sounds like you are the one on here QQ'ing. the people that spent the same amount of time leveling their craft as you did yours and should have just as much a right to make the high end gear. it's not their fault they did it 3-4 times and you only did it once. the QQ'ers are the ones asking for the changes because they cannot keep up not the people that have taken the time to actually use the system in place to level multiple classes and do not want to have to change after a year of leveling.I don't understand why players are mad about this idea this would help out the market and profit for every craft. the difference here is that crafting is its own class in this game not something you do on the side. it's like saying you can only have one battle class you can cap and be effective at. this is not xi and the crafting system nor classes are the same and should not be treated as much.In Final Fantasy XI, players could level all crafts up to 60, and choose one craft to master to 100. /10char
Healer strike is ridiculously foolish and accomplishes nothing
they did it in FFXI you got one craft to 100 the rest to lv60
fishing 100 too.
it will kill the classes as jobs though if they do that.
