Exactly same and agreed. Not all vets are like that.

I've played since beta and the day FFXIV opened (so I guess I can count myself as a vet), but I'll (and the rest of my FC mates) still give pointers and advice or mechanic explanations if someone says their new - or try to encourage newbies on tough fights (I usually encounter a lot of new players in a single DF party in Ultima HM), 'not to worry - it's a tough fight and not always a win. Nature of the beast - you'll end up running it a few times, so don't get discouraged. Wipes = learning'.

Just sometimes, it's difficult to do that (such as my example) when already amidst the chaos.
But I'll never flip out on people/new guys or refuse to offer help or explanation.
When I do dungeons, and someone says they're new, I'll stop to explain fights - even if this means standing outside and a bits away from the purple boss line to keep anyone from pulling if I feel the tank or party are moving a bit fast. I'm usually WHMing, so I usually use myself as a deterent from them running in without the healer.... thus waiting until I explain =p (doesn't always work, though...)
