I am Pro-Cash Shop

I don't see what the big deal is with the cash shop hate. The way I see it, these cosmetic items has no impact on end-game what-so-ever. If it helps S-E produce more content for FFXIV with expansions or free content (which is not free because we pay for their salaries with our subs and now with cash shop to keep them working and making more content) then I am all for it.

I think what people need is a alternate way to these items from the cash shop and I would like for S-E to consider adding them to the Veterans Reward at some point into the future. That way it is a reward for long time players. That way this will take care of two things, 1) The item will be in-game for veterans after some time. 2) If there are new players and they want these items in advance then they can use the cash shop to purchase them.

I know this isn't the best solution but it is better than complaining without providing a decent solution. If you support the cash shop, show your support in this thread.

I am as well, have probably spent way too much but I like the option of it being there, I mostly play this game for the cosmetic, so better for me!

How do you now the cash shop supports the development of future content though? Just because they said so? They've said a lot of things that have been proven untrue now so I wouldn't put much faith in trusting what they say...

The more likely reality is that all income from the cash shop will just go into developing more cash shop stuff to sell (read: cutting pre-existing content to sell at a premium).

I have no horse in the cash shop race, but I think everyone is going utterly crazy over the cash shop and everything involved. They need to chill out.
At least a third of the topics on the front page as of this post are cesspools of cash shop negativity. This topic will probably become one as well. Just a matter of time until someone argumentative shows up and sends it in that direction.
Not a whole lot of fun to post in that environment. It'd be one thing if it were an uproar over a serious game issue, but this? Meh.

This pretty much sums up a huge group of people. "I like it, so it's good."

This mentality can be found whenever a group of people need to spend time together be it in your football team or in a game. I don't need to explain why this mindset shows a lack of empathy.

SE needs to understand that there are different approaches to the game. Some like "progression" content, some like minions, some like glamour, some like crafting. Of course these overlap but there is always a favourite one. There will always be a group not happy with X item in the €ash $hop. They'll get over it.

It will be fine as long as SE is clear about their idea of it. Golden Saucer will be the next thing people will flame about should it be connected to said shop. Let people know in advance: transparency.

Best solution is just to make cash shop items "expensive" Gold Saucer rewards as well; Grind 50,000 Moogle Tickets from minigames, or pay $15 on Mog Station. That works for everyone, I think. I'd still be fairly disappointed, since I'd much rather see the minions come from Delivery Mog quests related to their respective Scion, and Sleipnir actually involve Odin (not saying Sleipnir Barding is impressive, but "I farmed the Odin FATE for this Barding" is more impressive than "I payed $15 online"). That's the kind of potential the cash shop throws out for extra profits, and that's why I dislike it so much. I cannot comprehend why anyone would rather just pay for a minion, instead of having it rewarded for playing the game in some fashion... Laziness? Sure, but there really needs to be an alternative that requires "effort" in order for the cash shop to be the lazy mans way. Honestly, if we have to have a cash shop, I'd much rather have just seen rare vanity fluff like Primal Ponies put in it. Having exclusive content in it is unacceptable to me...

Doesn't affect end-game, the only thing to do in this game. Well that ends that argument. Forget about all the roleplayers, heavy crafters, people who just enjoy the vanity system. End-game is the only thing that needs to be considered. (This is coming from someone who really only plays for gear and end-game...or at least tries to. I don't give two flying sheep about vanity stuff, but it's still stupid.).

Hmm.. I'm not really pro-cash shop but the entitlement attitude of the people who the opposes cash shop really irks me due to a few reasons:

1. Just because FFXIV:ARR is a Pay-2-Pay game doesn't mean it cannot have a cash shop for vanity items.
2. Paying subscription does not automatically gives you the right to everything. It's just a fee to access the game servers.
3. Entitlement attitude in general is really condescending and disgusting.

I am okay with the cash shop as long as it's not gating real game contents/progression behind a paywall such as:

1. Quests/Storyline
2. Contents such as Dungeons/Events/Zones. (Eternal Bond as an event is not gated but the extra fluff is gated. However, it's just fluff. Get over it).
3. Gears which contains stats.
4. EXP/Crafting/Etc Boosters of any kind which gives an advantage to players.
5. Other advantages such as movespeed.

Solely vanity items are alright to be in cash shop. Personal achievement such as "must have all the mounts/minions" are not counted as core gaming/progression.

It's not core gaming to you, but to others it's a huge part of their game. There's a reason why when a certain mount drops from X primal everyone loses their mind and yells "MINE!". a) it sells for a whole lotta gil and b) people enjoy collecting.
