A Suggestion to SE on how to get combat RMT'ing Devotion Bracelets

Dear SE, here is a simple and easy solution for selling the devotion bracelets. When the person purchasing the bracelets goes to buy them they have to choose whether or not its for them or someone else. If its for them its marked untradable if for someone else you have to put in their character name and that person has to be on your friends list for a week after or the item is removed from them and sent to you in untradable form.

    Any thoughts/sugestions?

A better idea: do something similar the Friend Recruit program does.

Apply for an Eternal Bond, get a code, give the code to the person you are bonding with, and bam! Upon using the code, you and your partner get all the items from the plan you're both using and the items are not only unique, but also unsellable and cannot be traded. With this, you can kiss legalized RMT goodbye.

Well, in regards to the Eternal Bond at least. Adding dyes to the Mogstation is still encouraging legalized RMT, but that's another discussion for another thread.

If they are to do something about it, then every account should only be able to buy two bracelets for a year. That way there would be a consequence to selling them as opposed to using them as they were intended to be used.

And in response to post number two, I have no problems with people selling them or "rmt moonlighting". No matter how you look at it, it's taking money from real rmts and that is a good thing.

Since selling them is only a fad and only temporarily hinders rmts, it kind of makes you wonder what other trixy ways SE has come up with to combat rmts. You're never going to get rid of them and this whole "braclet thing" is turning out to be almost brilliant imo.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

I don't condone RMT but I think this is not as much of a big deal as many people are making it out to be.

Once the eternal bond fad is over, you aren't going to find that many people still willing to pay for these things...

I'm kinda funking confused then tbh. I read the official statement. If it is going to be patched in two hours then to me it's kinda like those two rednecks chain smoking in the garage working on the lawnmower who seemed shocked as hell gasoline ignited and blew up in their face.

I mean...it's just....idk man. I was hoping this was some super brilliant covert way of combating rmts all incognito and shit. That woulda been nito. Oh well, people at SE are just as dumb as us, go figure.

SE patching Eternal Bond bracelet from being tradable shows where SE stand regarding this BS haters are calling Pay-2-Win. Clearly SE knows the limits of cash shop and only vanity optional items are being sold there. It's players who abused it and selling it for gils. SE patching it shows that they know where to draw the line and they are not condoning Pay-2-Win.

You haters got to chill the f out. Your personal achievement of collecting every single minion/mount is not considered core game. You want the item, then pay for it. Your subs don't give you entitlement to every single thing. Know the difference.

Well, honestly, that still doesn't really stop people from "selling" them. Staying on someone's friends list for a week is not a very difficult thing to achieve. If it meant that the item could only allow an Eternal Bond with the person who made the purchase that's a bit better, but it's possible to annul the bond after you get the outfit/hairstyle, and/or destroy the ring after you're bonded. So... basically as long as they're tradable in any way shape or form, it's "possible" for people to sell them. It's just a question of how many roadblocks you're going to put in their way to make it more difficult or inefficient. (If it ceases to be "easy gil", the odds of doing it go down.)

I think it's quite possible, but to be clear they didn't actually say that yet (AFAIK?). They say it's to fix issues with ceremony scheduling, which would be important given that scheduling starts Friday at 1am PST. It's possible this maintenance may come and go with this particular aspect unchanged. (Of course, even if it does, it could still be changed later.)

(And also, of course this uncertainty is being played up by the sellers who are trying to get their sales done before maintenance in case it's patched out, and probably raising prices as a result. *sigh*)
