Because it's fun, because being able to level up all jobs on one char means I don't have to level and gear or even switch to alts when I want to change, everything I do, no matter the job I'm using I'm doing for my main (albeit I do have a alt that is only SCH too :P geared to ilvl 115).

Theres so much to do if you don't tunnel vision one aspect of it. So many goals to aim for keeps me interested. SWTOR lost me because whilst I was playing everything was so easily, and quickly obtainable. I need a good mix of long term, medium term and short term goals to keep interested.

I like this game because it's lively and the community is great (overall). I'm in a 4 man FC with real life friends. I enjoy the Crystal Tower (can't wait to see how SE will end it) and Coil of Bahamut (all of it). Chocobos, gotta love them. I couldn't careless about other mounts as long as I have my Chocobo and Fat Chocobo. The only thing I bought from the cash shop was Platinum Eternal Bond, I must admit it's expensive but I like it.

The quests have a really nice touch to it, although would prefer the world to have more depth to it. If only certain mobs look for shelter if there was a thunderstorm or Dynamic events like GW2. Hopefully they find a way to remove invisible barriers/walls and think of a better way to prevent players from visiting off limit areas. Really looking forward to where the future story takes us after the events of Bahamut. Heavensward looks promising.

Definitely prefer threads like this. I was really worked up from seeing all the complain and demanding thread filled with entitlement. IMO, threads like this are more constructive and helpful.

Friends. So long as I feel like I have a place where I belong in Eorzea when I login to the game, I will continue doing so.

As long as my friends and FC mates are alive and kicking playing the game, so will I. Likely would've quit loooong ago if it weren't for them.

    Here's an example.

I love the Elder Scrolls series. But the games are often riddled with bugs. Game breaking bugs. I am vocal about these bugs and bitch about them to Bethesda but in the end, I still love the game. I'm vocal about the bugs because I love the game and want it to change for the better.

I love FFXIV. The game has a Cash Shop that has no place in a P2P Game, and an item with unfortunate Pay to Win consequences but in the end, I still love the game. I'm vocal about the cash shop because I love the game and want it to change for the better.

Sometimes though, you have to find out that maybe the relationship is one-sided. When the Cash Shop starts selling items that releases Coil lockouts and EXP boosters, then it's bye bye FFXIV. I would rather it not reach this point though, so I am speaking out now.

Adventures and characters are something that keeps my attention for a long time. Last FF game I played was FFXII. FFX-2 was a letdown since I expected a continuation of the story from FFX but instead it was all about dresses and wtf. FFXIII I only heard things about but it never grabbed my attention, it kind of felt like there was more shine than substance.

FFXIV was my first MMO and while there were no pre-set characters to play as, I enjoyed making a small party on my own, with characters from different walks of life who only specialized in a few jobs that defined them. The world was post-apocalyptic but working on getting back on its feet. Magic was real, with carbuncles and fairies working side by side with you as you encountered other travelers in the realm. The primals and dragons really felt like a force to be reckoned with, especially when you are a tank who is not much taller than your helmet. And bigger threats always loomed in the distance, like possible revival of bahamut or the empire. It all does feel like an adventure, and meeting great people through it to chat from day to day is an added bonus.

I am looking forward to Heavensward, have been curious about that area behind gate in coerthas for a while now and previews from the current main story peaked my interest as well. I will keep playing for a few years, though I cant say I havent noticed what squareenix is doing and how it mislead us about a lot of things they promised. I hope they remember that this game does have a heart and means important things to different people, like kingdom hearts does.

Because I haven't found the next best thing to move on to, just yet.

I love the graphics and I love parts of the game, but not one system fully pleases me the way it's done.
And then the decisions from the dev team just make me feel like they only understand it when bad things like 1.0 happen and everyone just leaves.

Combat in FFXIV never been my favorite style, heavy crafting is not my thing and I hate the way a game with a multiclass system is forcing you more and more into just one.
The graphics are gorgeous, the lore and all around feel is great and I love the vanity possibilities (although I hate the limitations) and these are the biggest things that keep me around.
Now that the dev's are pushing everything they release towards the opposite of what I like all it's going to take is me bumping into a game which I somewhat like before I'm done here.

If I manage to hold out till Heavensward it will probably keep me busy for a little while, but not for long if it's just the same old thing just repeated at higher level, because repeats is what the patches 2.0-2.5 have been.

This is not a complaint, just the way I feel about the game.
