2.45: The good, bad, and how I'd fix the bad

I liked the patch. Let me get that out there first.

The moogle quests, as always, were fun. The eternal bond quest line was also fun. I liked the class/mechanical changes made and overall 2.45 was a plus for me.

For me there were two missteps on square's part.

    1) The dyes in the cash shop: This was out of left field. I would have thought those could have been dropped as quick ventures, or better, been made as a craftable item. Truth be told, gating the metallics behind ventures never made sense to me.

1a) If you're void-bent on selling dyes in the cash shop at least make it a dollar for a few of them rather than just one. Make it four or five for a buck. They are technically a vanity or premium item, but that price point for a consumable was kinda lame.

    2) Add rules against reselling the marriage packages in game: Making them trade-able was a good idea. It makes it much easier for players to pick up the cost for a friend/loved one and that's a good thing.

I didn't notice any terms/conditions about reselling them though. I admit that I may have missed them. Please correct me if they're there and I missed it.

If they aren't there, then add them to the purchase page. Soon. Then enforce the reselling the same way you enforce RMT trading. I'm not seeing that as a problem on my server right now, but it opens up the door to a small amount of "legal" RMT.

    That's all. Thanks!

The only good thing to come out of the cash shop is the fact that there will now be "a small amount of legal RMT" as you put it. This is actually a massive blow against gil sellers and a major setback for them.

I can't see how that would be a massive or major anything to the gil sellers. If someone is bent on risking their account security to get gil, then it's way easier to just contact one of the disreputable sellers than to drop 10 or 20 bucks and hope someone will buy it from you.

Had the premium weddings cost crazy high amounts of gil, it would've been a big boost in sales for them.

    Absolutely it would have.

To NolLacnala's point, I'm not seeing how people reselling them in game from the cash shop hurts the gil sellers though. Anyone who would buy gil is already willing to take a risk on their account and it's easier to make that leap than to use the mogstation and then sit and hope someone will buy it off of you for a decent price. So it doesn't affect their usual customer base at all.

I do like that the free option includes the outfit (even if it's not dyeable), hairstyle, and new emote. Also that the rings are a relatively low level GSM craft. I was worried that they would make it hellish to get.

And judging by the rmt tells saying how much gil you'd get for 10 or 20 bucks, there's no way you'd get that kind of gil from a legit player for a wedding band.
