Right it wasn't directed at you Luci.

The iPad is like a giant iphone ... it's Apples answer for a netbook. It has 1024x768 resolution, HDMI support, cameras, SD card reader, professional editing software - including iMovie and Garageband. It's a great laptop replacement, because you don't have to wait for it to boot up, it's small yet has a large enough screen to be useful. We even use it at work as a presentation device - it hooks up to Projectors and can play Powerpoint presentations. Some people use it as a giant toy, but I've found it to be a great business device.

It's also a fantastic ebook reader, the best I've ever used.
Even better, it has amazing VNC support, allowing me to connect through the VNC over VPN to my office network to manage our servers and keep our emails up and running.

As for the iPhone, well, in general needing music and phone with you at all times, my iPhone is my car stereo. It connects to my car over bluetooth and streams about 4000 songs to my car without me having to push a button. Yet, it will cut the song off if I get a phone call, allowing a complete hands-free safe experience while driving. Now, of course this isn't Apple exclusive, it's just a benefit to having them in the same device. When I used to work in medical we couldn't get a radio reception because of all the heavy machinery so the iphone was the only way we had tunes, or the ability to listen to Limbaugh during the day.

Simply put, the iphone allows me to drive my f150, listening to my song of choice, talk on the phone, and smoke a cigar, without being a road hazard. Unfortunately the counter argument would be how many people now text while driving as a result of it
