Boot Camp is not virtualization. It's not running Windows inside a Mac, it's partitioning the hard drive and installing it on it's own partition, and it provides a driver CD for the mac hardware... which let's discuss ... what is the mac hardware? A Intel Core i7 Processor, with DDR3 ram, and a AMD graphics card ....

Is Ubuntu virtualized because you install it on a second hard drive on your windows pc?

The point of the thread was that a Mac OS, emulating Windows XP, ran the game better than natively running it through Windows 7, and to discuss what that meant in terms of being able to optimize the game. Such as, coding better communication with DirectX (Square Enix side) or turning Aero off (End-User side).

Have you tried running FFXIV on your iPhone while you smoke a cigar in your F150?
Maybe the speed and the smoke will make your mac work better.
I don't know how mac works, but I think they're based on Steve Jobs' magic farts

@miraa we can't help those less fortunate who feel better about posting negative flame trolls. Yes xiv can be run on a mac and yes the game will run well. But for all intents and purposes macs stille are a touch behind in terms of tuning for performance and upgrading. Hell i love apple products for ease of use and quick use, but if i am trying to really build a solid system bc pc's offer the flexibility my primary comp is a pc.

But i do see the merits of using a mac and the size of the systems is what i like most. They are compact and that's what i like i about them for portable use.

Back on topic in a sense, the people flaming do it bc they have no real valid thing to say so just say anything that is counterpoint.

    Seriously, though.
If the game works better on your Mac when you run it through Wine, why do you have to make a thread to complain about it?
Just run it through the OS X or whatever and deal with it.
Isn't the Mac OS your preferred operating system? Sounds like you just REALLY want to have something to complain about.
Besides, everyone knows how shitty windows runs on Bootcamp.

a while back somebody asked how to disable desktop composition. simply navigate to where your ffxivgame.exe is, right click it, go to the compatibility tab, and check Disable desktop composition.

You can do it from the desktop shortcut as well and it affects all possible ways of launching the game.
