Stop making the devs "wasting" their time to even ponder about these tacky political issues when they should focus more on developing the game and gameplay.

They took Miqo'te butts so that we could have male Miqo'te and female Roe. That strongly implies, if not a common model, at least a certain commonality of proportion. Given that commonality, it would take all of... what? Fifteen minutes per outfit? To develop a male version. I don't think it would be time wasted, though I do acknowledge that there would probably be a smaller number of male characters wearing "female" clothing than vice-versa, simply because modern culture does still place a stigma on dressing "like a girl."

I for one am not keen on seeing, for example, male Roegadyn in wedding dresses or what have you, as such I'm glad there are certain gender restrictions in place.

Well Put! My character is a gay male... In RL, I am also a gay male. While I am in game what I am out of the game it is still Roleplaying for me. Aztoth is not alot like the real me.
The way others build their characters doesn't matter to anyone other than themselves. If a person catcalls you in game, say thanks and keep going. Or if so inclined, stop and make a friend or possible Bonding Mate.

I for one am playing as a lady right now, and I would love to wear Clouds or Cids outfit, or the butler outfit I got from Amazon. It's a real shame that I can't put those on.

I believe females can already wear clouds outfit.

Females can wear all the veteran reward gear, even though they belonged to male characters in their respective game.

As a female, I find myself generally preferring the male versions of certain gear (Explorer's and Highhouse gear is much nicer on guys! I would love those!), so from my standpoint as a female, it sucks. There is also the weird fact girls have way more options than guys for some reason, most due to masculine gear sets being unisex, while the feminine version is female only.

And really, we should be able to freely express ourselves with our avatars. Gender locked gear is just arbitrary.

That being said, that dress is fabulous. But I doubt wielding an axe in a dungeon wearing that garb would be easy, tripping over the hem every time you throw up a berserk.

iirc that's a translation/continuity error. When said character was first introduced, details on their gender was ambiguous, and the English language lacks a proper gender neutral pronoun. So they were referred to one gender for a pretty decent chunk of time, and when it came time for the reveal, the translation team had to patch it up.
