Cash Shop: Where do you draw the line?

For me the line has long been crossed. It's really a binary situation to me, either RL money affects the game or it doesn't.

The attempts by some on the forums to "define" this line for us, using some "logic" to justify their position, are pointless.

What is and isn't "optional" varies from player to player. You are "OK with it" until what you consider "mandatory" goes P2W.

For SE, the line is by and large where they drawn it at that particular moment - i.e. it's completely arbitrary; I suppose if there is a "guiding principle", it would be "will this sell".

Crossed the line with Eternal Bond.

If I want a fancier wedding in Eorzea, I should be allowed to pay for that with Gil. When they decided to charge real money for that, well that's when they crossed the line.

I mean at least give us the option to pay for it with Gil - Come on.

Currently I'm dissappointed, the wedding isn't the real issue imo.
I wouldn't mind paying for it, but that you can sell it is a huge let down for me.
The reason I play P2P games is so that I have my money spending in check, I know myself well enough that I might go the lazy route and sell a wedding just to make a quick buck IG and I don't want that.
The line is already crossed but when they start to charge for Gold Saucer it's over.

The real trouble is that it seems that many of the people of the forum see the line far far away... I don't really know what else has to do Square Enix for making them be discomfort with the cash shop... Those ultra-protectors of it seems to welcome P2W games.

Why shouldn't I? My feedback and the feedback of others like me may help let SE know what aspect of teh game caused us to unsub so they can bear it in mind for future design decisions. From a retail business perspective, findind out why you are losing subscribers is one of the two most valuable types of feedback you can aquire (the other is "What would make me subscribe to this service/buy this product").

I myself have invested so much time in this game and made lot of great friends to just see it go this way without giving feedback.
