This argument is about thresholds, where everyone's personal point of breaking is. Nothing has changed except how it now -personally- affects all of us. I am against any extra real money involved beyond account services, but I'd much prefer the items being sellable/tradable if there is going to be a cash shop.

The pay gate is a -genuine- lock against certain content being received if you can not afford it, while the advantage of being able to spend money to get gil is a limited one. There is only so far someone can go in this game with gil, and there is nothing stopping anyone else here from being on equal grounds if they work. I will admit we all don't have the time to make hundreds of millions of gil, if you can admit that someone with that much gil has a minor advantage and does not possess anything that is impossible to obtain.

...I wonder if players in EVE Online had this much trouble when PLEX was introduced. At least that was official, and not just a loophole.

They did, but it was nothing compared to the monocle debacle.

    "I told you".

Keep saying that it's not a big deal and defending SE with your blindfolds on, and you'll see where you'll end.

Now you can ban me again for two whole weeks for saying the truth and trying to unite people against the cash shop (while people make threads with the only purpose of provoking other players and nothing happens, even if that clearly goes against your precious rules), SE. I don't care. I'm not going to post anything else, anyway, it's not worth it. Yes, I don't care about the game anymore nor look forward to any live letter or patch, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one. That's what you have accomplished, congrats. I wish that you never ever again need the support of your core playerbase, the same ones that you seem to enjoy alienating, to stay afloat.

    "Core playerbase".

Speak for yourself, sister. this is a positive thing, as far as I am concerned. I make stuff, it sells faster, I get more gil, I can progress faster. they pay to win, I win.

I'm not winning though. Gil that can be used to buy my stuff might have gone to these cash shop item sellers.

but you are. this money was being hoarded, and is instead going to these cash shop item sellers. what are they doing with it? spending it, of course. On our stuff. a few of them might buy a house, yes, but other than that, the only major gil sinks in game are to other players. material is sold by players, gear is sold by players, its not as if the money is going away, its circulating.

A 14 year old can make as much gil as anyone else on any server with the right amount of time and effort so I don't really see your point.

What exactly do you want level (in terms of a playing field)??
argh, post limits. I think he wants a playing field where time cannot equal money. so you can sub IRL money, for in game time.

That is a bit overbearing, though. If AI spend 1 hour working in real life, and want to apply that work towards my game time, I should be able to, at SE's profit. because an MMO is a business, and if my out of game work applied toward game time is more profitable than your in game work applied to game time, my time is more valuable.

But what fun is there if the playing field isn't somewhat level. Do you think a scrawny 14 year old who is just learning the ropes will have fun fighting against Mike Tyson in his prime?

RL rich people will be the Mike Tysons of this game's economy.

You also forgot to mention gold backed money isn't 100% stable either, discovery of gold deposits will upset the value.

Technically all money is fiat money, even gold ... which is way over valued given it's utility to man. Money has no intrinsic value. Money is just a promise to pay in goods and services. The US dollar is backed by the capacity of the USA to produce goods and services of value.

Win what? You can even get the possibility to buy the BiS gear as far as I care, but if you clueless on mechanics you don't go anywhere.

I praise this game still is a place whose Gear doesn't sort out the competence of the player. Yes makes things more simple (and not every time!), but don't make the game for you.

5 mil will get you a FCoB clear, so yes, you can 'win' the game this way just by paying r/l money.
