Not necessarily. There's nothing dictating that a player who's ultrawealthy in gil won't simply use it to become even wealthier. And if they're an exceptionally wealthy person IRL, $20 for 5-10 million gil is a drop in the bucket compared to their income prospects and other investments.I think, though, that economically this is a good thing. That gil moves from someone who had been hoarding it to someone who's itching to spend it. Once spent, that money will either curb inflation when it is eliminated from the economy (NPCs, Housing), or it will fatten the pockets of another player who's trying to make money to buy something (Market board), and curb inflation (Money eliminated because of market board taxes).
In theory, a person who's incredibly rich IRL and gil-wealthy in game could simply sell bracelets and metallic dyed items en masse to other high-gil players, essentially making a grab to consolidate all their market power. That's what a smart Free Market video game tycoon with tons of IRL cash to piss away would do.
video games are bad
Thank YOU! ^What I'm noticing in all these threads is people who don't understand how buying bands from players and buying gil from RMT are two separate things.
Buying Eternal Bands from players
Player X bought the band, and wants to sell it. Player Y buys it from him for 5 million gil. That gil was on an active player who was spending it on in game trades. Player X now has it, and if they buy items off the market board or from other players, the gil now belongs to Player Z.
This is currency circulation. There is no inflation of gil being circulated, and is legal.
Buying Gil off RMT bots
Player X decides to go to some shady website. Dont buy the gil, it remains on the bot account and not in the circulation of the game currency. Buy the gil, and now there's an abnormal amount of gil gained through inhuman means.
This gil isn't in the normal market circulation, this inflates the economy. This is illegal.
i dont really see the reason for any of the complaints, i can also understand how people can consider it pay to win
SE has FREE options, if people want to pay RL money or gil to buy them, blame that persons stupidity, not the person selling the item. also, think of the alternative, some people dont make alot of money, or are using their parents money because they are not old enough to work, so this allows them the opportunity to get those same luxurious items that are paid for with real cash, and their fault if they are willing to pay such high prices
I do blame SE for not making it available in game through some means, even if its extremely rare
I'm confused here... since when did having gil become pay to win? Can someone name me some instantly super powered gear which is available through gil...? Right now I can think of none. In fact, the best we have is ilvl 110, which is considerably weaker than the poetics gear available in game for tomes. So, again... how does having gil equal pay to win?
For example you can buy items neccessary for new i125 relic for gil. I mean the desynth thingies which cost 1M gil on some servers. And honestly if even buying ingame currency is not pay to win, then whiteknighting was taken to a new level.I'm confused here... since when did having gil become pay to win? I use cash shop, but I do not defend it and I really do not think that possibility of selling platinum bonding is OK.
Have you not seen the crafted gear when it's penta melded lol?I'm confused here... since when did having gil become pay to win? Selling Eternal Bond plans isn't a durable and infinite way of getting gils.
The market is already becoming competitive, thus, making the prices drop. If someone is willing to sell a plan for a lower amount of gils than you, you won't earn anything at all.
Besides, the amount of player who are willing to buy a plan with gils will quickly decrease. Since more and more poeple will want to sell plans for gils, but less and less people will want to buy one, the market will collapse quite rapidly. It's always the same when something new comes out... you see high prices and a lot of transactions, but after a while, it's pretty much dead.
Also, the gils doesn't come from bots, it comes from players. The impact on the actual economy isn't relevant since gils exchange between players never did any harm to the markets at all.
And my last word: if someone can't use real money to buy a plan or two to do the Eternal Bond ceremony with someone (no matter what the reason is), but is able to buy it for gils... let them do that. If you don't want them to be able to enjoy a paid ceremony, even if it doesn't affect you in any way, then you are the worst kind of person on Earth, and I absolutly hate you.
Tl;dr: Selling Eternal Bond plans isn't harmful to anybody and the market will die soon enough anyway.
Stop crying about it when there is no reason to.
