Any images of the new Relic weapons yet?

While I like the red and black color scheme of the spear I dont like the overall design. It looks more like a BLM staff than a dragoons spear. Once I get it I'll probably just glamor over it like have been with the gae bolg all this time. Storm lieutenants trident is still my favorite for glamor.

But Bards have absolutely nothing to do with Samurai. Why is a bow that is supposed to resemble the Bard class, a bow with nothing to do with a bard. The only thing it has going for it is that it's a bow, which is better than what the Dragoon has going for it, because that thing isn't even a lance and has nothing to do with Dragoons.

You mean the Lance of Longinus, the famed spear that was supposed to have pierced the side of Jesus while he was up on the cross? Referenced multiple times in Final Fantasy games, and wielded by Dragoons/Dragoon-like characters in those games?

Also, wasn't Yoichinoyumi wieldable by Rangers in FFXI in addition to Samurai?

Thank you for providing examples, now look at your own examples. How many of them resemble a spear, or a lance? Yeah, a few. So look at FF14's Longinus. Does that resemble a spear to you? If yes, first get your eyes checked, then note it's not a lance, and is a bad design for a Dragoon, that uses LANCES. Is it a lance? No it isn't. Is it a glaive or halberd (that Dragoons don't use)? No? Didn't think so. It's a twisted fork. It's a staff. It's not a Lance. It's not a Dragoon weapon.

Now look at Gae Bolg. Is that a lance? Yes. Does it fit a Dragoon? Yes.

The issue isn't the name, it's the design.

Counter-arguments:

A halberd that I'm using right now as I level Dragoon.

Quite a few DRGs using this one.

Ancient Allag was good with this one.

And here's one fit for a king, kupo!

Even Gae Bolg has protrusions that make it more of a halberd.

THIS is a lance. Note the flared base of the head.

Again, dragoons in past Final Fantasy games have wielded many of these weapons, including halberds, harpoons, tridents, and more.

And to be clear, it's perfectly legit to say "I think it's ugly and I don't like it." Everyone has different tastes. I'm even okay with "this doesn't fit with my mental image of what a Dragoon is". I certainly have my own mental images of how my character fights and what sorts of weapons she'd favor. I just take issue with making the jump to "this is how Dragoons are objectively defined and therefore they're just WRONG".

I think the White Mage staff is really neat. I love the organic, leafy look to it-- going back to our Conjurer roots. We are tree huggers and such.

Like someone said, why do they look so "evil"? (edit: think i saw this comment in another thread or something) Most of them have a dark and twisted look to them. Which brings me to the point that design-wise, these really don't feel as individually unique as the original appearances of our weapons. Also maybe it's texture or whatever but they just look messier than what we have now too.

I'm extremely disappointed with the Longinus. I just keep looking at it and thinking "this is what it's going to turn into?" And to anyone that says glamour it, well.... I mean there goes half the point of even having the relic then.

At the moment of posting, this person is on Dragoon gear but if you look at the character picture, you can actually distinguish that he/she has Excalibur and Aegis. A FC friend of mine linked us the items in-game, too.

I mean, wow. It was barely 48 hours after patch... O_O I thought I was making quick progress with 4/4 bombard, 4/4 buyable items, 8/8 HQ turn-ins and 2/16 dungeon drop and barely 4 hours of work (yeah, I work and stuff LOL) , but this is insane. :P
