People seem to forget that Square Enix is a company that does business and charges for their services. Why/How is this so unethical? People really need to get their head out of their ass and stop thinking they deserve everything for free from SE because they play their game.

Youre talking like im getting something for free, ive spent ~200euro on this game already but somehow that wasnt square charging me for their product? is it so unreasonable to not want pay extra for little things which would have been included into the game anyways?

Im really having trouble relating to the cash shop defenders who seem to be ok with a company milking them for more cash after having already committed so much to their product. How doesnt this double dipping feel wrong to you? Really, people are entitled to their own opinions, its ok, i just dont understand you at all.

I am a consumer who understands what I am purchasing/subscribing. To correct myself, nothing is ever "FREE".. so should have said, at no additional cost.

Why is it when you subscribe to cable TV it doesn't include HBO/Showtime? Because they are "optional" and additional revenue for businesses. Do people complain? Of course!! I'm just playing devil's advocate... I can see "why" a business would make these decisions.

There are many of these comparisons.. It isn't double dipping if you are choosing to purchase "additional" items (which has no impact to anyone's ability to progress in the game they are subscribing for)

This is an excellent example of why SE added a cash shop, like many other MMOs have before it. Props to you Bunsen and +1!

But the comparisons aren't accurate. In case of FFXIV, the "extra" content sold for extra fee is something that is part of the game's content, not a separate addition. Accurate comparisons would be you buying a movie ticket, and then finding out some of the scenes are blocked behind a paywall, buying HBO subscription* and having certain episodes of a series excluded, or buying a gym membership and them telling you you'll need to pay extra to be allowed to use certain weights.

The complaints are, from what I personally think and have seen others saying, about people feeling this content should be included in the subscription fee. And that the "extra" content they're selling seems to be cut from the game, which means the players who don't wish to use the cash shop will have to settle for second class experience even though they're already paying at least 120 euros / dollars a year.

Well in my home country you can't buy HBO as an "extra" for a cable service, you just buy the HBO and pay a monthly fee for it. :P Apparently this example doesn't work because it varies depending on country. I'm sure the point is understandable though.
