If the choices were Mog Station or retainer's RNG pool, I honestly prefer the Mog Station. Dealing with Quick Exploration's horrible RNG is ... well ... horrible.

What about if one of the choices were gathering Metallic Pigments and crafting the gear in game?
SE could have easily made metalic dyes obtainable this way as well.

Adding this kind of item to the shop is taking away from content that should be added into the game.
And making things hard to get in game and then selling them in the cash shops is a common F2P stratagy.
