Possible solution for cash shop?

Yeah... I have no idea why this guy is needlessly attacking people in this thread. Calling us ignorant and acting condescending. We are attempting to find a middle ground to hopefully satisfy both a large portion of the player base and SE.

So how many percent does the number of forum users actually represents the entire game's playerbase as a whole? So plenty of threads on the forum dislike the cash shop = majority of the whole ffxiv playerbase dislikes cash shop? Why don't you get your facts straight first? You're the one who is bringing up the supposingly "facts" and "numbers".

You think that your subscription covers and entitles you to every single items in the game. Vanity items mind you, and it's optional. What people are forgetting is that they accepted a ToS which clearly states that subscription is solely for you to gain access to SE's server to play the game. The ToS also covers the part where it states there will be additional charges for additional optional items.

Now, you guys agreed and accepted this terms of service and are now making multiple, I repeat, multiple threads complaining about something you agreed to and accepted. So how's that not condescending?

Why does the percentage matter in the first place? Just drop that silly argument.

There are people who agree and disagree on the forums.
Just let us find a compromise for all without arguing on things like how many people read and/or write on the forums.
Customer voice is important to the company, as they themselves said many times. What will they do with our voices is of course up to them. Will hearing us get them additional money or not...

Company reputation is as important as products they offer.

Arguments about what do the Japanese think is going to be the main focus is in my opinion wrong too. We do not differ so much as you think. Above that English forum is read by SE too.

Even Yoshi said in one of Live Broadcasts that he likes to read English forums because it gives fresh solutions and ideas too.

Now.. Who said that "My subscription covers and entitles Myself to every single items in the game."? It is very insulting to put words in people's mouths, because you are claiming something that did not happen. and you have to validate your argument.. or there's no point in posting those claim's at all.

This is why I'm on the fence on this option(I don't like the cash shop to begin with and won't spend money in there at all). It seems a good compromise but the worry is there that there would be things locked behind that go beyond the vanity. I'd much prefer if the cash shop just went away.

Yeah, that's a concern no doubt. I think my suggestion is a viable option so long as it continues to be "optional items" on the shop. If they start to try and "paywall" other stuff, like you suggested. That would change things. With that said, one of the reasons I made this post was to generate a positive discussion. At the same time, I hoped the devs might see this and consider it and the comments made in here as valuable feedback.

So I guess you have the "I am entitled to everything syndrome because I paid for subs". Once again ignorant players not understand that that exactly subscription fees are for. It's for the basic access to the game. It's not a fee to "I want everything made available to me".

I don't think you understood the point of Raidou's post. If there was just a few people complaining about the cash shop Id be more inclined to agree with you but not only has there been a decent amount of people who's made forum posts regarding the cash shop there's been a lot of people on my server whom I personally know that has quit the game because of this. I believe SE needs to find a middle ground to all of this and Raidou's idea makes sense in that regard.

I rather they just made cash shop items exclusive to the cash shop only for a limited time - i.e. they will end up obtainable in-game sooner or later.

this runs the same risk i mentioned earlier. money payers get access to the really good stuff for a while, then everybody gets it and then a new shiny good thing comes out so the people that don't pay are always behind. i've seen it happen and if people could always be trusted it would be a fine idea. sadly people can't always be trusted.

I don't like the idea of RL money influencing the game, in any way whatsoever, either.

But at least if the items are "timed exclusive" to the cash shop, you can "wait it out" if you are patient and you CAN get the item even if you don't spit out RL money.

Things devalue over time in RL, cash shop items can be made that way too - cheaper over time until it's buyable with in-game currencies.
