Yeah, I guess being a legacy player who stuck with the game even through the original version that essentially died means I don't care enough about the game to stick with it through the good times and bad.
exept for 14 month as legacy i did pay 139 euro (more or less) with my subs, the price of 2 to 3 full game, do the content added cover this much? not really
do i underestimate the work done? nope
do i feel stealed to see content developped with the subs end in the cash shop? totally!
do i feel they haven't used our subs for solve most of the trouble? yes, before ff14 the company was in the red and after the release of the game they have begin or restart the production of a lot of game... where do you think this money did come from?
do it's yoshida and him team fault? sadly no! they are employee, even if yoshida is producer/director, he is still an employee, he can only do with what SE give him.
do i think that SE is affecting the futur of FF14 because of them choice? totally! and when i say SE i'm not thinking to yoshida and him team. i think the people at the head of the SE lack the knowledge and understanding needed for support a mmorpg and see it like a game on mobile (we can feel it in the financial report, since FF14 is placed in the same category than the game on mobile and ios *sighs*)
the trouble lie here, the marketing team and financial part of SE affect badly what FF14 is becoming, even the fact that we need to go in the mog station for the free version of the eternal binding is a way to advertise for the cash shop...

SE is known for not addressing issues that they do not know (either the solution or the response to) if anything's an indicator, check out the thread for the 401 errors in Mog station that people up to this day (myself included.) are still having problems with, I'm sick of having to buy time cards for this game.
It would be nice if they'd at least let us know that they're keeping an eye on these threads and delivering the feedback to the higher ups.SE is known for not addressing issues that they do not know (either the solution or the response to) if anything's an indicator, check out the thread for the 401 errors in Mog station that people up to this day (myself included.) are still having problems with, I'm sick of having to buy time cards for this game.
someone is reading all of this. but generally speaking they do not care about one angry troll complaining with another dozen of users on the forums when they have a couple million happy active subscribers
Oh, I see, we're "angry trolls" just because you don't agree with what we're standing up for.
I love how the pro-cash shop crowd is so quick to belittle the people who are opposing it.
No I didn't say I didn't agree with you; I too am weary of the cash shop and come from a generation where you could press up down up down left right left right ab select start to unlock everything and not like now how they get you through micro transactions to unlock stuff. I'm not a huge fan of the cash shop either and I would be happy to see it go away.
I'm just giving you perspective.
Take yourself out of the situation and read what you've written objectively as if it was someone else talking. Then remember you are a drop in the bucket of a few million subscribers, most of which cannot be bothered enough to even make forum accounts because simply put they are okay with it and do not care. Your opinion while may be the loudest vocalized is not any more or less important than the others and is unfortunately drowned out by the deafening silent majority.
If it quacks like a duck...
The anti cash shop "trolls" are just a by product of an entitled generation. Yes we all pay a subscription fee that pays for servers, free update patches and new dungeons and classes. If SE wants to put minor vanity items in a cash shop to try and generate some extra cash flow then so be it. SE makes games for one reason and that is profit(oh the humanity).
Cash shops are a common practice in virtually all games now and I don't see it leaving anytime soon. So the anti cash shop players have a really simple choice and that is to learn to accept how the gaming industry has been trending for years and stop complaining or just stop gaming. I don't mean to belittle the players that are against the cash shop but having 10 different threads all complaining is a little much.
What's there to say for them really?
Let's be honest here. If they would post, in every single threat relating to the cash shop, something along the lines of "Thank you for your comments, we'll redirect your concerns to the appropriate channels". Would the matter be settled for you? Very likely it would not be. The fact that after 19 pages you're still replying into this topic which essentially does nothing but beat the dead horse yet again states enough I'd say.
What more could they do? Once more emphasize that the items in the cash shop are merely optional? Not required for progression, not required as part of the story? And serve no other purpose than cosmetic fluff? Would the matter be settled for you then? Judging by your opening post, no it would not.
So, what exactly is it that you're expecting from SE? Them to care that a few people dislike the cash shop being there whilst opposed to that a great number of sales is being generated through the cash shop on a daily basis? Do you expect them to approach their investors and say something along the lines of: "You know what guys, listen up. We have a problem. A few hundred members on our FF XIV forums have shown their repeated dislike to the cash shop. Despite it generating thousands of dollars per day as additional revenue, we believe we must close it down"? It's quite simply not going to happen. The fact that a cash shop was coming sooner or later was a dead giveaway. There's no MMO left on the market which doesn't go hand in hand with one. And no matter how many posts are being made, it's not going to change. Simply due to the fact that it works. Opinions and angry topics mean absolutely nothing. It is money which talks. If people wanted to have spoken out against the introduction of the cash shop, they should have done by cancelling their subscription. If a significant amount of the playerbase would have done that, SE might have reverted the decision. That didn't happen, as most people just don't care. Instead? Thousands of Sleipnir mounts were purchased. Kaching!
I don't understand why you (cash shop defenders) are accepting of Square-Enix taking advantage of you, and abusing you as a customer.
Why do you tolerate it? Why do you let them walk all over you? Why don't you stand up for yourselves?
