If you unsubscribed, you are no longer a part of the playerbase. therefore, I really hope that the game devs do NOT care about you. they should be catering to those who actually care enough about the game to stick with it through good times and bad.

You should remember that ARR essentially sucked all SE money into rebuilding itself, many project went into frozen state (versus, anyone) or even was dumped. ARR cost a lot of money to be remade and people DO want to return their investment, so a lot from this number goes to recuperate R&D cost that was spent years ago.

yes, the game did cost them a lot, but what cost them more is all the "failure" they did recently, a lot of game (even if they did sell well) wasn't a true succes, because they cost them tons of cash to do but don't permit to make a lot of benefit from it. a good example is tomb raider or thief, they are good game that did sell well, but barely enough for call them a succes. more important, FF14 arr is out for more of 1 years (14 months) meaning they have get in this time period (for 1.000.000 subs at legacy subs) 139.860.000 euro (173.200.000 USD)... please don't tell me they did use this much cash for remake the game... more important, they have already said (to them shareholder) that FF14 is a critical succes bringing a lot of benefit that did covered all the cost of before.

the point it's why FF14 need an influx of more cash? mostly because they didn't learn from the error and restart stupid move... SE even if is a big company is not EA, Activision, Ubisoft... however they did relaunch the making of a lot of game... now the question is this, until when can we allows SE to use us for found them other game, while FF14 do need a lot of improvement in many domain? (Server capacity, more man power,...)

don't get me wrong, from a pragmatic point, i understand where stand Yoshida, but as player that invest cash every month into this game (part of a family with 4 active account) i'm concerned by them choice. more bad, i have the feeling that player are nothing more than milking cow for some higher ups of SE, it's hard but true.

you can tell me the game did cost them a lot, but don't forget that while the last years of the V1 all the player with an active account was paying a subs. (that why a lot of legacy are still around) we did invest in the change of the game. and now, the game did receive a massive afflux of money, sadly only a small portion was used for FF14, a lot of the cash was used for covered the loose of the game that did come out before FF14 and now that the society is in positive they still ask us more cash? sorry something need to be change and more important some question need to be answered, more bad they need to stop to see us like milking cow but really like investor that put a lot of money per years into them game!

Given that Yoshida himself keeps referring to the game as a Theme Park MMO, it's probably helpful to keep in mind what actual Theme Parks are like. Your admission gets you in the door and gets you on all the rides, but they're also full of "Optional Services", like souvenir shops, commemorative photos, concession stands, and even premium passes that get let you jump ahead in line. So even though everyone pays an admission to get into the park, people who pay more will get more extra benefits that don't stop everyone else from still experiencing all the core attractions.

I think that's literally the model that they're going for in this game. I think they see the things they've added as the equivalent to souvenir shops and commemorative photo ops that people who really enjoy their FFXIV experience may want to buy as mementos. Their main job is to make sure that the most people possible keep wanting to come back to the theme park, and are having fun. (Clearly these additions may preclude some people from having fun, but they'll have to look at the "visitors" on the whole.)

what you describe is a free to play model... it allows each to do what they want for the money they have, you can't do that into a subs game, seriously it's as good than shooting yourself in the foot.
explain me why people will come into a game, buy the game, pay the subs for be forced to purchase options? when they can get into a free to play for nothing and have the same system of option?

because that the point a lot seems to miss, what some are ok with is a free to play model. like said only one game have a shop as subs game it's world of warcraft and even them have never get to the point to propose option on feature inside the game. even them (that was supervised by vivendi for long) never did cross this line. why this? because it's bad in too many way, you get cash from your player every month, it's like you buy one or two dlc from other game every month. you can't go and begin to ask people that pay already this much, to pay more for get acces to a part of the content.

the point is that actually, are we still into a subs game or into a game that gonna go free to play? because i'm kinda sure, that a looot of the more loyal playerbase will simply drop if the game pass free to play. like said, the trouble is not in Yoshida team, but in the higher ups of SE, that don't understand how work a succesfull mmorpg and are becoming extremely rude to use us for found them other game instead to invest into FF14 more cash earn from it.

Yoshida and him team have done so many great thing if you look at how they must work, them team are not enough for a game with more of 2.000.000 players, the DX11 build did wait because they hadn't the man power to support the fast pace of release of content and devellope this, they did delivered to us the ps4 version (that it's in 64bits) and we are still in dx9 with a 32bits support on PC. the server have almost reach them max capacity, to the point to affect what they can or cannot add to the game, but still can't upgrade the server... why this? when they get soo many cash per month... because most of the cash is taken to other game of SE, indeed they must use the benefit from the game as they want, but sorry, so far the game have many trouble that need a fast answer and are push back more and more.

honestly i will not be surprise to see only 20% of the cash earn by FF14 reinvested into it while the rest go somewhere else.

they need to be more transparent with us, it's time to change the way they see the player... we are not simply brats, we are people that invest cash every month into them game, they want me to support the cash shop and double dip for content? they need to show me that this cash will be used into FF14 and not into FF15 or next tomb raider or such! and maybe if they prove me that the case i will support this horrible way to do the game. but soo far i highly doubt this cash is really for FF14!

ps: and if they really need this cash from the cash shop for support the game... where go the subs?!?

seriously people ask to grow up and accept stuff, but when you hit them with reality they simply want to avert them eyes from it. the reality is this, we invest cash every month into a service, we deserve to know where this cash go... since the service soo far is not as good as he can be with the money they get from the subs. i have said it countless time before, we are not different of the shareholder. we are investor into a company called SE for a product called FF14:ARR.
