Please Make Shared Housing a Marriage Benefit

Please consider allowing those who are married/eternally bonded to share housing.

This would be excellent for role play, as well as for the benefits of gardening and housing items.

My husband and I play the game and we would love to be able to share a home.

    Thank you!

This makes too much sense.....confounded people and their sensible ideas

But yes, this is an excellent idea. Although, its going to start a lot of arguments about where the furniture goes .

I agree. My girlfriend and I just bought a house hoping to get married and share the house. Just mainly allow the stable, mender, garden and stuff like that.
What I think SE is worried about is what happens when two people split? Who gets the house?
Anyway that should be who ever the houses name is in gets it. Put it in the terms.
Why cant someone have a room mate.. Might make the housing a little more popular too.
I love the housing, it is a nice beak from the norm. A lot of fun crafting all the stuff for it.

I completely agree with this. It is silly to own a house and not be able to share it with your significant other. I would never forbid him from using my things. He's my husband. It would only make sense that we could get married, and buy a house together without having to decide which person actually gets to use the house. This should have been implemented with weddings already.

I know if I payed that $40 fee I ... plan to pay eventually... $20 per person is a lot of money for a wedding, and he should be able to use my house. What good is a big house when I am not able to share? It's boring and lonely. Please add permissions for partners. It would make our world of eternal bonding so much warmer and happier. If he cannot even use the facilities or craft at the house, he will never be home and will always stay with the FC house.

I think the issue with this is, if you were to get divorced and dropped the wedding bands and everything, they would have to remove the house access to the divorced couple.

There are a couple of ways around it from what I see...
    1) Just let the original purchaser of the house keep it, and the non purchaser would no longer own it.
    2) Have both of you be required to buy this house and only allow the dual purchase to happen after marriage. If they get divorced, the house disappears too (kind of like breaking a free company).

I feel like if you are the first one to toss your ring, then not having that anymore should erase your permissions in the house and the other person becomes the owner automatically. If they get married again, the new ring will allow the permissions to the new partner. Whoever decides to toss the ring first, that should be the penalty. I am tired of seeing people whore themselves for marriage for tons of in game gil, and throw it around like it doesn't matter.
I see Party finders up saying "I will marry you for 55 million gil." .... /sigh
Maybe people would think twice about who they are marrying if there is a housing penalty for the one that wants a divorce, but completely losing the house altogether is not ideal. That would not actually happen in a divorce. One would keep the house normally.

I'm not sure if this is possible, it's just my opinion.

Doesn't have to just be an Eternal Bond benefit. Just have a 'roomate' system that allows private chambers in private houses the same way FC houses do, but limit the number of 'roomates' by the size of the house. A small could maybe have 1-2, medium 2-4, and so on for example. Possibly add a special eternal bond room to that system (or not, just have a partner give one of the rooms to their spouse). Either way, if a divorce happens and they decide to leave, they can just break their room like one does when leaving/getting kicked from an FC. Same as in RL, if a spouse has already purchased a house and another moves in, their name alone is still on the deed. No need to add unnecessary dual-ownership issues.

Being the owner of a private mansion, I would absolutely love to allow my 2 close RL friends who do not own a house into my own and help me decorate the place, join in gardening and all the other benefits.
