Now that the 980ti is out and 4k Max settings is even very playable we really need this as an option. Preferably just add a slider that goes from 100-200+% and let players choose exactly what they want.

I plan on getting a 4k capable monitor when I build my next PC so please make better UI options.
Also, individual scales would really be preferred for me so I can make some things really small and others large. Not sure why that hasn't been implemented already other than PS3/4 compatibilty arguments.
I think the devs commented before that the way this UI is designed, it's all a bunch of bitmaps overlaid over the viewport. So in order to add more scaling options, they have to sit there and create new UI elements for every single tiny bit of the UI. All 10,000+ elements. One by one. It's a horribly inefficient design but hindsight is always 20/20. From the original standpoint of only needing to support 720p (PS3) and 1080p (PS4, PC) resolutions this UI design probably made sense during the crazy 2 years of crunch time dev cycle to remake 1.0 into ARR.
I personally wouldn't mind if they just took the largest bitmaps (currently 140%) and just let you scale them up more. I don't care if this makes the UI elements look blocky, I'll be too busy looking at the game being rendered in 4K anyways.
I would be shocked if they didn't create the UI elements at a super high resolution or in vector form (pretty much infinity resolution).
Downscaling/rasterize i.e. to various lower resolutions is trivial.
Then again SE is pretty slow to respond to such player requests - even if it's just cosmetic, e.g. Pet glamors are still MIA despite the QQ the entire of v2.0; I should count my blessings I suppose, at least they have plans for it.
4 pages i didnt read but has anyone noticed those are the default keybinds? u clickin or somethin?
Hi, XIV lover here as well. I recently jumped into the 4K rush along with some others in this thread and I must agree. It is very unfortunate that this game can't scale past 140% UI. I was hoping that the Windows 10 "manifest" override method could maybe force XIV to adjust but no luck. Now granted I am also visually impaired but it's a sad mix of me loving my graphic fidelity and where *readability* is a massive issue - yet I love my details.
My previous configuration was fantastic; I just wanted more resolution. Was playing at 1200p with most UI elements at 120%, All logs and such at 140%. Character chat bubbles were tiny, but readable. At 4K I have to intently focus on them, and some of the text in the journal menus are difficult at best. Boss window emotes at 4K are IMPOSSIBLE to read, unfortunately. An example of that being Ifrit's call about the burning you in inferno fire and others.

Part 2 -
Diablo 3? Perfectly (globally) scales the UI to your game. WoW? Same deal and that's been out for over 10 years, though granted I don't know when that aspect of the game was added (perhaps Cataclysm). I know Rift has a global scale as well as super wide options for adjusting 100-200+%. Why not FFXIV?
Might have to drop this to 1440p for raiding or something which defeats the whole point of going 4K in the first place.
Images attached because I can game in 4K now.
The game looks breath-taking for sure.
But reading things is now a pain! ;.;
Boss emotes are particularly tricky to see, maybe due to aliasing.
As you can see, buffs/debuffs are micro. Dot timers are nearly unreadable.

Only the item tooltip is what I'd personally feel to be at a "minimum" size of largeness at 4K. Everything else is still pretty small...
If SE could do say, a 200% option even, that'd probably match up most things to a usable 4K level. Except NPC text. Turning a filter on for the log helps but doesn't solve the root of the problem in that it's very small now.
Oh and speaking of that can we please pretty please get font choices larger than 20 point? For 4K I'd gauge 30+ would be more ideal at a minimum.
