That shows the total number of Pld / Gld, I'd mainly just look at who's lv 50 on that and compare it to the rest. The available info is contradictory at the same time because THIS shows that PLD/GLD is the most played class...? Yet there's a tank shortage?
The only MMOs i've seen that tried not to have the trinity were horrible. There was no teamwork required and none was possible anyway. It felt like just a bunch of people KSing my solo kill rather than a group fight. It also involved a whole lot of dying and respawning because there weren't any healers. If someone held a gun to my head and tried to force me to play Guild Wars 2 I'd pay really good money not to.

Tanking is fun. Idk what you guys are talking about. I would fix the rewards however the gil rewards is so weak that I stopped running dungeons after cap which is usually by Thursday. I know SE is keeping data on which classes/jobs we play more often so why not reward those who play tanks more often, like 75% of the time, with lots of exclusive vanity and maybe double the commendations given for just playing a tank. I would love to reach that 3000 commendation achievement but I'm not a keener and won't force people to commend me.
Also there's no way to differentiate between people who love tanking and choose it since day to those who only do it for the mounts/tome cap/commendations.
...or se can put the tank chest as a drop in the first turn in a raid like in t1.

I like tank, But it is stressful at times, Too big of a pull you get blamed to small you get blamed. Take to long you get blamed.
It was really nice did a Expert with my FC and it took about 6 min longer then my normal run for the place we got. I didn't care it was nice and laid back.
But ya 5 x the amount of rewards you need for the mounts but give 1 point in need and 4 for extreme content.
I'm playing brd and it's a lot more fun then Warrior. So I'm never doing extra content on my warrior anymore. Get ex roulette for map and rest of the time it's brd. However I am not much into end game but would like the mount someday, So a in need bounce of maybe getting the mount someday cheer.
Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
I think increasing the role in demand bonus would be better and fair to all roles.
For example, other than increasing gils, the sytem can give a MVP to the role in demand upon completion. ^^;
What I think SE can do now is to give out Shards as reward for in-demand bonus. In addition to the gil we already get, we could get 10-15 of each element.
...yeah I need more shards.
First off, I'm a total MMO noob. FFXIV is my first real MMO, and I started as a THM not knowing anything about roles (tank/dps/healer). I just hit level 30 and have done four or five dungeons.
As far as I'm concerned (with my limited experience), tanks, by far, earn the most respect from me when it comes to dungeons. It's because they essentially have the most responsibility as party leader.
I'd like to play a tank next, but it's a lot of responsibility and stress so I'll only take on that role when I become a more experienced player. I'm a DPS noob, but I definitely appreciate everything a tank has to balance at once. I don't understand how anyone could take a tank for granted considering how important their role is. If I, as a DPS, die, no big deal. But if the tank goes down, things don't look so good.
Anyway, just wanted to let the tanks out there know that I really appreciate the work you guys do!
As i said in a previous Topic the Only Solution that is 100 % viable is to give All Melees Tanking abilities, with an easy aggro system génération, to not stress the player & make the job more enjoyable, by dpsing and tanking at the same time !
Ragnarok Online games has been doing that since 2002 and its a pure benediction since you dont lack Tanks at all in this mmorpg.
Also there is the second solution to bring Mage as Tank , it will not be successful as the ragnarok online system , but still better than the classic heavy armor Tank only system. Some people dont like to play heavy armor toons, and will certainly be interested to have a look on a mage Tank (if there is one available), DPS and Healers will still have queue but less than before , if they bring some "diversity" to the tank job !
I main Bard and second White Mage but I did in the last half a year level up both Warrior and Paladin and I enjoy both of them. But I still need a lot of practice in terms of tanking. I don't care about the numbers but I do care that I need to be mindful of positioning, keeping enmity and so on. It's a lot of fun though in some cases it also gets boring. I MTed and OTed T7 and I can say I enjoy OTing it more. I still need to get through most fights as a tank but I can say that unless you end up in a bad group that people start throwing insults or stuff it's just as enjoyable as healing and dpsing.
It's not the rewards, it's not the mounts; it's the fact people don't want any or as little responsibility as they can get away with when doing duties.
