So in short:
One need to beg for old content's clear because of the lock out..
One can hardly show off experience because it takes time..
One time i randomly joined a pf for T5 party, was a healer at that time and after failing 2 times, the other healer bailed saying because it's very late of the night.. Then the party leader, the tank gave me a friend request and had been pming me for a week even when i was in a shiva farming party, he pmed me everytime i was out from duty (this is really creepy).. Then he asked that me, taking anoter 6 people with me to help him clear T5.. I forwarded his need to the shiva party at that time only to get laughed at the nonsense idea of bringing 7 people to help a stranger.. So i'm just balancing out that advertising and showing yourself isnt enough.. You'll need the mental of a beggar and patient, which is very well reversed considering you cant have patient from PUG..
you keep referencing that thread, but fail to even think it possible that the person who made the thread took the advice of others and began advertising in game? or possibly already got a static? just because you dont see something happening doesnt mean something isnt happening. back in march this past year, i made a thread looking for a static. a whoping 3 people replied that they were also looking for one. i also advertised in game and found the remaining people there. not everyone reads the forums, and things can/will happen without you knowing. also, your general attitude about raiders is pretty bad. what happens on your server is not the end all be all that happens on all others, stop thinking it is.

Man, aren't you just a ray of sunshine? ._.
Seriously, you're really negative about so many aspects of the game. :|
This. The forum community represents a very, very small portion of the playerbase.
@OP - I actually had the good fortune to have a static literally fall into my lap. Seriously, after running with people a few times for some easier content, I was asked if I would be interested in joining their static. They even helped me get my T5 clear so we could go on to SCoB. That may or may not be because I'm a tank, though. Honestly, the best thing you can do is just network. Join linkshells. Join Party Finder groups, even PF groups for other content. It can help you make contact with people that will be willing to run with you for the things you're wanting to clear. As long as people see that you're able to do your job in a raid/trial, they're usually willing to group up again. ^^
I'd be happy to help if you were on my server, unfortunately you aren't. :|
I actually helped a friend get a T8 clear tonight. My static leader was a little sketchy on it because my friend's only truly well geared role is tank. I usually tank, but I agreed to play monk instead (and learn on the fly how to handle brainjack/homing missile, lmao...) to give him a shot at the clear. And wouldn't you know it, after a few bumps and derps we got it. We started to farm, but were stopped by a few more derps (not his) and maintenance.

Since when did I ever say all raiders are evil? Find that post. Otherwise it is all misrepresentation and false self-indignation. The fact of the matter is there has been no offers of FC, LS, or statics, in this thread or any other. Telling people to change servers, or be tank is not fair at all the players out there who are really trying.
I am not being pessimistic, the evidence in these threads speak for themselves. More effort is put in to tell me to be quiet than actual help for the OP. I'll be the very first to admit that I've come across helpful raiders, because I wouldn't be making progress without their help, but for every 1 helpful raiders there are too many people that don't care about anyone else, and you see them in the those dozen or so PF that say "farm, no newbies wanted", "must have multiple clears", etc. etc., and then to top it off there is that PF from the clear seller advertising, which is really a slap to the faces of all the players who are trying to put their best foot forward.

You haven't come out and said that they're evil per se, but you do constantly demonize the "elite" raiders in the vast majority of the posts from you that I've read. These posts range anywhere from accusing "them" (i.e. hardcore raiders) of being run sellers and/or involved with RMT to claiming that they not only are unwilling to help new people learn the content, but go out of their way to exclude them. Most of what you say is completely unfounded and doesn't really apply to most of the raiders I know. Hell, my group goes out of our way to help competent players get clears because it's fun and because the 100 soldiery bonus is pretty scrumptious. I've spent hours tanking Shiva EX learning and clear parties this past week. Tonight we helped a friend get a T8 clear. There's so many more. I really wish you'd look beyond the "elite vs casual" mentality and realize that we're all players, and more importantly, we're all people behind these keyboards. Our outlooks and attitudes are as widely varied as those of random people on the street, no matter what our raiding experience or lack thereof.
People that want to learn are perfectly capable of making their own parties for players in the same boat. At some point, someone has to step up and be the one that puts the party out there on Party Finder. More often than not, a more experienced player will join to help out. As far as run sellers go, why is that a slap in the face? If people didn't pay for clears, there wouldn't be run sellers. There's always people with more gil than time (or skill, whichever the case may be) that are willing to pay for that kind of service. Players that want to learn are still left with the option to do so. People selling runs have no adverse effect on them whatsoever.
For what it's worth, on the previous game I played, one of the raiding statics I was in originated from the equivalent of a PF party. You never know who you'll meet or what will happen until you put yourself out there.

Finding a Static is all about networking. My current static I put together with mostly new to raiding players started 3 weeks ago and we are now raiding turns 6-9. My static is not full BUT I network enough to always have replacements available to progress. I built up a good repertoire with my FC and friends even the ones who already have statics. This ensures that I am always a consideration for their Raid Groups and My Own. I found it easier to invest in lower level/ilv players than convince equal players to join you.
To be in a static you have to prove you can either Lead or Learn.
You like to keep harping on about nonsense, don't you?
Take this thread for example:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...79#post2602279
In post #7, you flat out ignored posts 3 & 4, and the OP's thanks given to them in post #5.
There was no "deafening silence" in that thread; the OP was directed to better venues for finding a static, which is a typical and respectable way to offer help.

This is very true and very demoralizing at the same time. Why is it that people are looking more to exclude people than include them? Why can't it be a team of equals, instead of "elite vs casual"?
--------------------
And reddit is suppoed be better in what way? It is just more forums of gibberish. Is this not the primary FFXIV forums? Shouldn't straight forward stuff like finding a static happen here on these forums? Redirecting people is just more smoke and mirrors and the OP of that thread has been radio silent since so who knows what came of it.
