How do I find a static raid group?

Pretty much what you're being told, advertise yourself. But to cut the crap and get straight to it, you need to prove your worth to those in a static. Show people you can play, and can play well. Nobody wants a dead weight DPS, regardless of which job it is. If it means changing, you should. Being flexible in a static helps a lot!

I used to MT in mine and switched to MNK because FCoB really is MNK friendly, plus I do reasonably good DPS.

The OP can not show people, if the OP can not even get a chance to demonstrate. This is such a catch-22. People not being inclusive, not even offering substitute fill-in spots to try-out, how is OP going to get started.

joking aside, I'd offer two approaches. One: Either find friends and help them get raid ready and keep focusing on the weakest link so that you can all eventually do content together.
Or Two: Start small. Find one or two people who are also interested and then set your schedule and use PF every week until you start finding regular people who are also interested, and just sort of slowly build a team that way.

Both of these tend to be less of a monumentous task than trying to get a perfect team of 8 together all at once.

For a lot of people T5 is super old news to the point where they try to join just for the easy soldiery. They can usually carry anyone through it. The fact that you're willing to learn it is great.

The thing about statics is that your FC members are either already in one or not interested in helping you make one for yourself. Being a leader of one is awful. If you want a static, you need to make one yourself or advertise yourself and show that you are serious.

Most raid groups are at T10+ right now..which means for you that you need to catch up. You need to get a T5 clear group advertised as "T5 Clear - Know up to twisters" to catch the people who know what they are doing and to show the more experienced people that you know what you're doing. From there, just go into the second coil and hit it hard. Farm for your needed gear and get on T9.

There are ALWAYS static groups looking for pug members for the third coil. Members being missing and the like. My group is constantly looking for another bard and our smn has work scheduling issues. We need pugs for those spots.
Every person who has been in a spot for us we have evaluated them. Anyone who doesn't meet our DPS requirements and ability to learn mechanics don't get to come back. This isn't cruel, this is a fact.
Plenty of statics are at the point now where no one can be carried in third coil. It requires EVERYONE to pull their best numbers to make the DPS checks.

And has Bar Baron said, the thing about third coil statics (which are really the only statics right now) is that it's serious play with serious players. Even if they hold casual schedules, they are serious about clearing it.

It isn't like Ai Hana says in that it's about being helpful. You need to learn this stuff for yourself. You need to do PF groups. You need to clear T5 and second coil with a mastery of the mechanics. You need to be ready for what T10 can bring to your plate. Statics will know if you're carried that's for sure.

If you're serious about finding a static, you need to get to the point where most statics are at. Anything in a DF will not be a starting point. Hit it hard, catch up, and put yourself out there.

This. Clear T5 asap, skip T6-8 honestly, and work on advancing your skills and connections to other raiders in T9. I was in an FC before I switched servers that would literally carry people's corpses through T5 just so that they can get into ScOB faster. It was pretty pitiful but it just goes to show you how much of a joke T5 can be with the right people.

So find these people, and study T9 as if it were calculus. Once you beat T9 finding a static should be really easy.

Be active, get yourself into the open. Let yourself and your ambitions be known, in any way, and with any tool you have. If all else fails, form your own static, or help form one. some times its more worthwhile to get a group of people at your skill level than ride on the shoulders of giants. I can say it did for me.

People on T12 don't want people just starting out on T10. "Really easy" is so NOT the case. The statics are hard to start, hard to find, and hard to keep together. It doesn't matter if the OP is working on T5 or T13, getting a static together with people that are more interested with only their own progression (and treating everyone else as if they are bad or slowing them down) instead of how to build a community and how to help everyone play together is like herding cats.

Skipping content is also really sad. You paying to not play certain portions of the game really? Besides you want to gear up for T9 and even now if you capped all your poetics you are still only at best 5 pieces of the gear at iLevel120, and you want gear from SCoB to fill in the rest, and especially if you want to play an alt class that makes it so that you can more easily fit a PUG and finding a static.

This is a lie. There are plenty of forming statics who post that they are willing to bring people up to speed. You just need to be at third coil ready status AND be able to put out your numbers.

Statics are easy to start. You'll get a dozen tells from DPS alone. They are harder to keep together because all the players are sometimes starting from different places or are at different play abilities. Someone may be willing to be in a static if they've beaten T12 but they won't stick around if the group is being dragged down by one or two players that the leader won't be kicked out.
Once again, statics are most commonly business to people. Yes, some groups are compromised of friends but normally groups only are together/log in/communicate with each other only for raid.

These fights are apple and oranges. You can literally carry four people through T5. T13, you cannot carry anyone. If OP started a PF right now asking for a T5 clear, he'd get people inside it. If he did the same thing for T13 clear, he would get nothing. People are not able to easily clear T13 and need people who they can rely on for it.

Statics not compromised of friends are generally concerned with their own progression, yes. If someone hinders that, it isn't personal though. They're just removed from the group.

Statics are not designed for this sort of thing. Statics are group based progression that generally cannot lend themselves to the progression of others in the same content due to lock outs. Some are more than willing to help with older content.

Coil isn't the only place to try out. I got into my static by coming across a static group that was 7/8 that happened to be farming Levi back when it was worth something. They liked how I played PLD and recruited me to their FC, hoping for me to join a static. But real life was in the way but once that was dealt with, I had a position available. Why? I happened to show this group of people that were recruiting how well I played and I did it outside of coil. So saying there's no way to show people is just giving up and rolling over, while other players are getting into statics.

It doesn't matter if you end up in an FCoB or SCoB static, if you are making progress, that's all you can ask for. You may have to take the hit and join a SCoB that is on T9 if you yourself have progressed to FCoB.

True, if you have no leadership qualities what so ever and also no dedication or determination to keep a team together and recruiting.

That is a lie. I am in a LS focused on SCoB, mainly T9, and we are working on getting more people thru T9 so we can have multiple groups doing T10. But the T12 people they don't want nothing to do with us filthy casuals. They let us know it too.

They don't want to spend time to help others learn and practice. They just want other people to be their NPCs working flawlessly like robots. That is an attitude problem with people. They just want to take and do NOT want to put in and help. The leader is may actually be trying to help everyone, but it take only one with a bad attitude to mess it up for the group.

I was trying to help people in my FC members clear T5 yesterday. Overall, 5 hours of waiting on the PF on the and 1 hour of wiping. The PF does not fill up anywhere close to fast, and I finally had to go beg and get nice volunteers T9 LS and 1-shot the darn thing for one of the lucky FC member, and they actually did not die in that clear. And T13, you can certainly forget about on the PF. It doesn't matter if it is T5 or T13 or anything else, if the attitude is to just your own and to hell with everyone else, it is very frustrating.

And what attitude is that? The one that asks people to have more empathy and try to be more inclusive, and not treat new/newer player with contempt. I've been in statics and I've seen statics fall apart. My current static that was supposed to clear T9 like 3 weeks ago has got bunch of flakes and never got past the golems. I had to get my T9 clear with the LS people, the current static is probably going to disintegrate from the no-shows.

I can only imagine what is like for someone trying to crack T5 after multiple failed DFs and PFs and stuck waiting, and heck

Garuda EX is like the same frustration. They can forget about doing Shiva EX now to try to meet with people. But what you do see is clear selling of T5+ and EX primals on the PF almost all the time.

Nobody wants to be bossed around by some so called leader. And you can't have all chiefs either. Dedication and determination from one bossy person never works out, usually they earn a bad reputation as a dictator.
